Masturbation is a sin if you have a spouse & you are not sharing it with that spouse.
It is not written in the bible to not masturbate. God tells us to not commit adolatry or commit adultary (of the heart also).
In a married relationship it is allowed. What is not physically good is anal sex. Common sense tells a person that hemoroids can develop or bleeding, etc. And it is dirty.
Give God your everything. Cast all your cares on Him. Just ask God in prayer, & He will let you know the truth. He created our sexual desires for a purpose.

The Bible doesn't directly address this issue, but there are guide lines that help discern what is sinful. Any practice that eclipses one's relationship with God is sinful. If you practice is habitual and you can't break it, then yes, it very well could be sinful. For a man it is probably on occasion a necessity to experience physical relief, but habitually, no. A married man should learn to love his wife romantically, if that happens she'll be very willing, I know it works.

If you understand the prohibitions, it makes sense.
years ago, when our sexual knowledge was scant, it was felt that a man had a finite amount of seed.
It needs to go where it will do the most good (into a woman's womb).
Masturbation is a mususe of commodity.
Also, since it is a self-love or lust, you are also guilty one the the Seven Deadly sins.
It is a sin because dogma says it is.

No it is not a sin. Don't let other people's moral standards influence your personal life. Masturbation has been proven to be beneficial physically and mentally. Don't let some pedophile priest dictate whats right and whats wrong sexually.

It depends on your religion and the sect of that religion. Generally most religions frown upon it, some more than others.
Don't go through your entire life afraid that you are sinning, that is such a sad and pathetic lifestyle. Do what you want and just be a good person.

Judeo-Christian tradition has taught for thousands of years:
1. Single people should be celibate.
2. Married people should be faithful to each other (adultery is wrong).
The Catholic Church recognizes the power of sex when it teaches, "Sexuality affects all aspects of the human person in the unity of his body and soul."
Chastity means the successful integration of sexuality within the person. A chaste person's body and spirit lives in unity and opposes any behavior that would impair that unity.
Masturbation is contrary to the human dignity of the person and anyone about whom the person has lustful thoughts, and the dignity of human sexuality.
With love in Christ.

I would like to know who started this sex is dirty and a sin stuff. We are seeing that the highest pleasure known to mankind has been turned in to a dirty sin. They have sex in the same category as lying and stealing. You would have to confess masturbation as a sin to a Catholic priest in confession. That's heart pounding trauma! This is serious.

All sins have been paid for by Jesus Christ's perfect sacrifice on the Cross; He's given new life, freedom with responsibility... all things are permissible for those who are in Christ, but not all things are beneficial (good for you, others) nor should you be bound (compelled, enslaved, controlled, manipulated, abused) by anything. You can't go to Hell for anything you do, nor will you go to Heaven for anything you do. Rejecting Jesus or Accepting Jesus is the ONLY destiny breaker/maker.
SO, YOU DECIDE...

If masturbation were a sin, the body would not permit wet dreams.

Yes it is you may not admit it but when you masturbate you will likely think of something sinful to get you off.....when you think of something sinful it will most likely take you a step further than you wanted to go.......lustful thoughts begets sin.
