Just so you know, I never left the church, I'm a Pastor just trying to figure out why people leave and how to get them back, but i understand all the answers given so far, and agree with alot of them.

They would have to stop pressing political agendas, and start teaching about what Christ taught. I know, it's a stretch, but I would only go to a church that devoted its time to being a place of spiritual enlightenment.

The change to get you come back is the faith that is in you together with humility if you really accepted the Lord as your Saviour and put your trust on His word before you left the church. But if you did'nt, you need to talk to a pastor in your area regarding the basic of salvation as an entry into the Kingdom of God as a believer. God bless you and may the Holy Spirit guides you back to the Church where you really belong ASAP.

IF you mean the Christian church (of whichever denomination) here's a start:

Christians would have to agree with one another

adopt a set of unified beliefs

resolve the contradictions present in the Bible

quit claiming that they worship a "Christian God"

quit insisting that their interpretations of the Old Testament/Hebrew Bible are more valid than those of the People to whom this texts were given

apologize for allowing one of their ministers to claim that my grandfather, soon after he died, will not be in heaven because he was not baptized into the faith (that's one of the major reasons that I left)

quit condemning science (particularly evolution) or at least get their facts straight and be able to develop a logical argument,

quit claiming that the U.S. is founded on Christian principles and ignoring all evidence contrary to that point,

quit making claims about other religions when they know little or nothing of what they are talking about

quit using "it's difficult if not impossible for human minds to understand" as an excuse for not being able to explain something and then expecting me to accept it on faith.

quit judging people then quoting the passage "judge not lest ye be judged" and telling anyone who is not Christian that they are going to hell and then saying "only God knows"

Actually practice the two concepts that were central to Jesus' teachings and accept that others outside the faith can do so as well.

Need I go on?

If the church threw out the bible and replaced it with a book that guided you towards good moral behavior WITHOUT the draconic dogma and institutionalized mind-control that the current bible has.

Oh, and got rid of the whole premise of "God sayeth thus..." because God didn't say crap. It was all men with an agenda to sell.

I have to say that MorelOrel said it for me. If people heard voices telling them to write stuff today we would call them "crazy". Well how do we know that the ones who wrote what the 3 guys voted on for the OT weren't "crazy". We don't people, so why not think for yourselves and do the right thing with your fellow humans???Why can't no one answer that question without quoting from the book probably written by crazy people hearing voices.?????????????????????

I have made an observation, while living ths life that God has granted me. The world does not change to suit me, I must change to fit into the world, but I am doing it with God, not sacreligious people who seem intent on destroying God's word. It will not work for me. I will not conform to your ideas and ways of thinking. You however, go and live your life as you see fit, with no regard for other people.

Teach the truth.
Go chapter by chapter and verse by verse. Using the understanding of God.

If that means throwing out all the traditions of men SO BE IT!

You just go to confession get some good counsel in the bargain(it;'s like a free counseling appointment). and you're good to go.

Did you know that confession is a sacrament that anyone can partake of, it really helps to get things out to another person and makes you more accountable for your actions.

Which Church?

The Deity.

Why would I want to trade a relationship with a Goddess who loves me unconditionally for a God who would torture me forever if I don't have the proper theology?
