Seriously.

The most worthwhile part of the Bible is the 10 commandments (And I can find that in any old Torah, although my Hebrew is rusty). The rest is just filler.

Well, look it at this way, if in the world you throw away the garbage and keep only the good. Would it be worth living in it. Of Course would be great, but with garbage and no garbage you still have to live in the world and believe where you are standing.

So the Bible has the bad thing that happened and that will happened, and the good things that happened and will happened, without them both it is hard to believe, cause then it will be a true fairy tale book like Cinderella that never happened.

The world of God is true and what ever is in there, like it or not, it is real.

If one ignores the fact that the bible is a poorly written compilation of myths that have been revised frequently throughout history by councils and rulers who have vested interests in rewriting it to suit them, and if one even ignores the complete fictionality of the characters, then there is still something to be gained.

From the character, Jesus, one learns a simple commandment: "That you love one another as you love yourself." One might also be inspired to act with compassion and kindness from the passage:"...When I hungered, you fed me. When I was naked, you clothed me....Even as you have done these things to the least of you, so you have done them to me." What if the one thing to be learned from the bible was that we should act thoughtfully with compassion and kindness towards all who suffer in the world? That would make it worth it if believers actually practiced it.

All of it is Good. God has not allowed anything to corrupt his word. Everything he has put there for a reason. We may not fully catch it all unless we really study. For example, the first Geneology in Genesis is really a prophesy of the comming Messiah. Adam = Man, Seth = appointed, Enosh = mortal, Canian or Kenan = sorrow, Mahalalel = the blessed God, Jared = will come down, Enosh = teaching, Methuselah = his death shall bring, Lamech = (the)desparing , Noah = comfort. Man is appointed mortal sorrow, the Blessed God will come down, teaching his death shall bring the desparing comfort.

Well, you gather up the good parts, and you're left with common decency. But it would only be a page long.

Bettie is right. The Good parts would be just the stuff in red print. Probably less than a page.
