between a bagel and just plain bread? i know that one comes in slices and one is not as soft as the other...but are the ingredients, are they better for you etc...

Bagels are eggier, denser, adn boiled prior to baking. Bread is usually lighter and full of larger air bubbles than bagels. And baked, no boiling before-hand.

I would think neither are healtheir for you than the other, unless ingredients include whole grains, nuts, seeds, and such as that.

The ingredients are basically the same, but bagel dough is boiled briefly before it is baked.

If I am remembering right, bagels are boiled first, then baked to give them that nice dense chewy texture, bread is lighter and fluffier. Oz for oz bread would not have as many calories, b/c it is not as dense. But bagels are more yummy!!! Especially with strawberry cream cheese!!
