It's how you express yourself when you don't want to try and think it out. It's easier to cuss, because when you do it, people get the message and you don't have to do much work. One more of those "gratify the flesh" things.

First of all, you don't need to use a 'swear word' to swear. For instance, I often use 'rats' if maybe I drop a plate on my foot - it is not the word that you use, it is the way that you use it. So, I think that perhaps you are talking more about using 'foul language.' You see, everyone 'swears' but that doesn't mean that they have to use foul language to do it.
I think that a few of your previous respondents have touched on this but haven't put it in to so many words.
I believe that most of the people who use foul language do it because they do not know the proper word(s) to use and so use the 'swear word.'
Take for example the phrase '**** over tit.' We all know what it means - but the thinking persons reply would be something like 'Base over apex.' Says the same thing but in a less offensive way.
However, your question is asking why people find it so satisfying - and I am not sure that they really do find it satisfying.
The best answer that I can offer you is, if you are wondering whether you should swear or not, then consider that you really are letting yourself down by swearing and showing that you are not articulate enough to find the correct word to use - so you use a swear word. Then, if your mates make fun of you for not swearing, you will know that you don't have to because you are the brighter person - and they suffer from ignorance.
In the same frame, please don't use words like 'coz' - the word is 'because' - spell properly and learn to use your language properly - you will stand head and shoulders higher than your peers.

All naughty things are satisfying, but sometimes a swear word just gives the exact impact you need in conversation.
Sometimes normal spech just don't cut it (i.e. This meal is rather disappointing, i do so regret paying well over the normal rate for such a dining experience. I really wish to let the chef know that this was rather a poor show).

I guess it's the first word that comes into their mind.
Can be more satisfying than using other words, but I believe that it's a lazy habit that can only get worse over time.
Also, teaches kids a bad example. And yes, some kids copy it because it is naughty, while older ones just do it because everybody around them seems to be doing it, too.

I don't really like swearing myself or hearing other people swear- i find it abusive and dirty, and think it shows a laziness in finding a good argument to get your point across- swearing is for people who have no grasp of proper language.

I used to work with a guy who did it because he thought it was funny. I don't. As far as I am concerned swearing shows a lack of intelligence.

Swearing is like the salt, pepper and vinegar of language. It adds flavour in the right proportions, but leaves a nasty taste if that's all you add. Why do we do it? F*** knows!
