You probably don't have it in the right format. Check it! Also, the computer program might not be compatible with your DVD player.

What software are you using to create the slideshow?
Most DVD players are not able to play burned DVD slideshows. Unlike computers, DVD players can not run programs, etc. They just play DVD movies. Most Slideshow software requires you to play the DVDs on a computer.

Without more information it is impossible to diagnose this problem.
Obvious causes:
You burned a photo CD and your DVD player isn't compatible.
Your burning software is incompatible with your dvd player
Your DVD player cannot play the medium you burned it on (DVD-R, DVD+R, CD-R, DVD-RW, CD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD RAM)
What exactly is happening? Is it playing in the computer but not the DVD Player? Details.

You need to use Your Dvd writter software.
using that software you can write photos that can be played as slide show (thats only possible if dvd writter has that option to do so)
