if you can afford it, a relaxation massage. Or have a haircutting place shampoo your hair, (style or cut only if you need it or want it) The soothing human touch is very nurturing and anti depressive. Or pet a small animal-dog/cat/rabbit .Go to some place where you will be forced to interact w/others-a drop in exercise class or crafts class or book discussion group. Try not to be alone. Any 20minute exercise has been shown to be as effective as an anti depressant for mild depression I believe(anyone can please verify/correct this who thinks its right or wrong) at least as a temporary fix.

first thing, put on a smile. sounds corny, right? i thought that it might, but it can actually work.
if we try to make it "mind over matter", some-times it really works.
and then sometimes the other factors that are bringing us down are too much for us to be able to talk ourseves into a good mood.
but it can't hurt to try.
next, think happy thoughts... tell yourself a funny joke, (or even one that's not too funny) this helps too sometimes.
third, treat yourself to something nice... don't go overboard~otherwise you may go broke AND have to deal with mania.
if none of these things work, then you go back to bed and hope that it will be gone when you wake up again.

Just know that everyone one cares. If we didn't even though we are total strangers then we would not answer this question. If you are depressed watch a funny movie or talk to somone you love. Both work for me!

If you are at home, you would watch a movie that makes you happy, try out a new hairstyle, give your self a manicure or pedicure. Call a friend and have a nice long chat!

put on a stupid funny movie, lose yourself in a book or magazine, do something that helps someone else, do a crafty project, color in a coloring book, give yourself a pedicure...anything that keeps you busy keeps your mind off the icky stuff. DON'T watch a sappy movie, listen to the radio(sad songs trigger tears), or lay around. makes it worse.
