my girlfriend is desperate to find out what came first...the chicken or the egg...please help...i really need to know

It has recently been argued that the egg came first. If you accept the theory of evolution, then you will be aware that each breed of creature evolved from something less evolved or advanced. Therefore - some chicken like creature must have laid the 1st egg that was in fact the 1st chicken as we know them today. So the parent which was not a 100% chicken laid an egg which was the chicken we have today.

It has been proved that the egg came first of which a chicken came from.
What layed the egg was sufficiently different from a chicken not to be called one but what came out of the egg was close enough to be called a chicken.

My take on this is that it is the chicken that developed from another creature, and the chicken must have come from an egg itself so the egg came first
non-chicken -> lays egg that has gene in it for chicken -> chicken hatches

Well that depends. From an evolutionary stand point the egg would come first but if you were to go with Genesis then probably the chicken, though with Genesis who knows for sure.

In Genesis God created all living things and told them to go forth and be fruitful and multiply. Laying eggs is how chickens multiply. The chicken had to come first.

evolution theories are aload of rubbish. God created the chicken 1st and gave it a partner then they had eggs. I guess the egg coming 1st theory came about at the same time as the big bang and the ape man right?LOL
