Walk him out there without the other dogs around first and see how he takes to it. Most dogs might need a little coaxing, but you'll know pretty quick if your dog is a swimmer of a wader (I have two waders)...either way, dont worry about the other dogs too much as long as they aren't aggressive.

They are natural swimmers. I was worried about mine at first. But he did fine. I just stayed close just in case. I actually can't get him out of the water, he loves it soooo much. I also noticed he got better with time. So if he's not the best don't worry. Regarding the other dogs. They have their own ways of knowing when not to play too hard or when enough's enough. Hope this was helpful. Have fun!!!

Make sure you are in the water with him/her. If it is the first time it would be better for you to go alone, with out the other dogs to see how or if your dog can swim then slowly introduce the other dogs. I would also go to a pet store an buy a swimming harness for your dog.. Also check the Internet on tips on how to teach your dog to swim. .

Ease your dog into the water by sitting with him at the waters edge first. Your dog will make the next decision wether hes going to like the water or not. Never force your animal into the water. You may accidentally scare him from water alltogether through a frightening experience

Nope, just be calm and relaxed. Don't make a big deal about the swimming or the other dogs. Just let him do her own thing. Give encouragement if he seems to need it, but I think he will dive right in.

it sounds like you have it covered, being in the water with him will protect him from the other dogs just incase they do get rough. good luck from a guy who's dog won't stay out of the water no matter where she is.

all dogs are born swimmers, they do know what to do in the water. some of us humans have to be taught how to swim when others are natural born swimmers.

I think your dog will be fine. He's not going to swim past his limits. But, if you are concerned, they do make doggy life jackets. I got mine at Petco.
Have fun!

Put your dog on a leash and go out with him. If he starts to panick just reel him back in to where he can stand.

Get him some doggie floaties at PetSmart so the other dogs don't drown him.
