I admit...It may be difficult. But is it a sin? Your not lusting after someone elses wife, well, at least not a living one.

Judeo-Christian tradition has taught for thousands of years:
1. Single people should be celibate.
2. Married people should be faithful to each other.
The Catholic Church recognizes the power of sex when it teaches, "Sexuality affects all aspects of the human person in the unity of his body and soul."
Chastity means the successful integration of sexuality within the person. A chaste person's body and spirit lives in unity and opposes any behavior that would impair that unity.
Masturbation is contrary to the human dignity of the person and anyone about whom the person has lustful thoughts, and the dignity of human sexuality.
With love in Christ.

First off.Watch what you do when reading prudent words from one of the great kings of The God.In Islam, it says one is not a believer when one commits sins.Masturbation is not a sin.For My God forgives small faults as long as it is not deliberate. And they repent thereafter. Now if you deliberately masturbate while reading the Proverbs, that is like laughing at The GOD.Spitting on your own outcome of your existance. You should already know what is right and wrong. It is the same fear you have as a child that is from THE GOD.Do you forget or just care not.For it is still with you and stands for judgement. Now you choose your actions.PEACE! PS The world is REAL.Watch your actions

There's not one biblical scholar that has denied that THE SONG OF SOLOMON is not erotic. I doubt very much that masturbation is a sin or all primates would go to hell.
An old wise man once told me there are only 2 kinds of people that don't masturbate,Dead ones and Liar's.
Personally though, the thought of having my dick in my hand while reading the bible doe's scare the hell out of me !!.. lol.

optimistic. I recommend, it is the bible, properly? actual it won't be able to be undesirable for everyone to study. So what if Solomon is going into ingredient about his loved's body and the way it makes him experience. So what if, in different factors of the bible, god orders genocide, homicide and lies? it is the BIBLE, guy! each and every baby must have it beaten into him a minimum of once an afternoon.

I have never felt it was a sin to masturbate. If you read the story of Onan, which is where most consider the "sin" is defined, the interpretation is doubtful. Onan was supposed to sleep with his dead brother's wife and thereby take responsibility for her as a wife. However, after beginning intercourse he pulled out and "spilled his seed upon the ground" to avoid responsibility by not completing the act. The sin, in my opinion, was not the spilling of seed (read masturbation) but failing to accept the widow of his brother and providing for her.

Since you quote scripture, maybe what ever you don't know you can ask God at the white throne judgment when you stand before him and give an account for your deeds and then are cast into the lake of fire. You will not be making fun of God then but you will be asking for mercy. Revelation 20: 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. Revelation 20: 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. Revelation 20: 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. Revelation 20: 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Solomon was probably masturbating when he wrote it but as far as it being a sin goes. Probably not.
"Sin is only sin unto a man unless he believes it to be so."
Christs death and ressurection amended the laws of the old testament!
Try reading it with your wife and jerking off together, "The marriage bed is undefiled." anything goes!

We're not under the law anymore, friend, we are under grace.
It is between you and God.
Look at it this way, specific acts of "sin" like lying and stealing are only symptoms of the underlying disease of Sin. Sin is rebellion against God and rejection of his ways... all the acts that result from this disease (like murder, hatred, anger etc.) are merely signs that there is a problem.
You can treat the symptoms of the disease, or you can treat the disease itself... asking if masturbation is a sin, well who cares? The real problem is the Sin. You can stop masturbating and that would stop your sin but it wouldn't cure your Sin.
Jesus Christ's death on the cross is the only cure for Sin that God has given us. Once we treat the disease, the symptoms take care of themselves :)
I hope this helps you!

Sin is an archaic concept developed by religious institutions to control most if not all aspects of the behavior of followers. Masturbation is pleasurable, though it is hard to believe that such tedious "literature" would be found stimulating. Sin is just a word; define it as delight and do as you will, so long as you harm none.

If you are lusting, then you are lusting. it doesn't matter if the person is living or dead. So, yes, if you are using the bible to encourage yourself in your lust, i would say that is a pretty grave sin. It is the word of God you are perverting by exulting lusting after another mans wife.
"Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter." Isaiah 5: 20
