Curly hair is very dry by genetic law and, therefore, responds to moisture in the air. When I was younger, my hair was perfectly straight. Then when I hit puberty, my hair started curling. I have no idea why this happened. Hormone changes probably. At any rate, I struggled with my curly hair also. I tried everything to make it straight and flat; nothing worked.
I finally gave up the fight with my hair and started taking better care of it. I have been wearing it curly for about two years now. It has actually become curlier. I am assuming that is becuase it has become healthier and well hydrated since I put away the flat iron and hair dryer. I can't even count the number of people with straight hair who tell me they wish they had my hair.
Tips for the Frizz:
AVOID SULFATES ! Most shampoos contain Ammonium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. These are harsh detergents. They are excellent at cutting through grease and other sorts of build up. Perhaps that is why they are also put in Dawn and other dish soaps. Usually, people don't use dish soap for shampoo.
To find a shampoo without these chemicals, you might have to spend a pretty penny. However, you could try a shampoo for color treated hair. They are usually designed to NOT strip the hair. You could also wonder down to the end of the shampoo isle at WalMart and graze the ethnic section. You will find quite a few brands of shampoo without sulfates. I suggest Creame of Nature. Do be careful, however, as the conditioner is quite thick and will need a very good rinsing.
Also, when you shampoo, only shampoo your roots. The ends of your hair have no way of receiving oil like the top. Shampooing them directly only makes them dry and more apt to break/split. The shampoo that runs down your hair during the rinse is all they really need.
When your hair is dry...
take ONE or TWO drops of extra virgin olive oil or almond oil into the palm of you hand. Rub your hands together. Take one side of your hair and brush your palms lightly against the ends only. Repeat for the other side. This will protecs your ends from splitting and also make them shine a bit. Your hair will not look greasy if you use only a little bit of oil, trust me.
The best advice I can ultamately give you is stop straightening your hair. It is curly, you won't win the battle. It may take a while for it to really start lookin good but give it time.
A good bit of my information came from one of the three sources listed below.

Humidity is often the cause of the frizzies; since there's not much you can do about the weather, use products that contain silicone and try to make the best of it. Still frizzy even when it's not damp outside? You might be handling your hair too much. After you wash your hair, gently squeeze out excess moisture with a towel — never rub! When you blow-dry, use a round natural-bristle brush (after your hair is partially dried), and be sure to dry your hair completely. During the day, don't brush your hair — just use a wide-toothed comb when necessary or, better yet, use your fingers. Silicone serum, styling wax or pomade will also help tame the frizz.

Take mixture of coconut and olive oil, warm and apply it on the hair and scalp. Wait until 30 minutes and then wash it with shampoo and conditioner. This will help you.
If you don't like to put oil, try egg yolk in place of oil. The wait time is abt 15-20 mins.
