Yes, when Jesus was resurrected and conquered Death, he freed those in hell and opened the gates of heaven to them. Remember when Jesus died, he descended into hell first, it was to free the souls of those who went before him (to forgive their sins, because sin was said to be unabsolveable until Jesus was resurrected) and give them a chance at redemption.

They very well could. The Bible (1 Peter) speaks of Jesus "preaching to the souls in prison" after He died, and before He rose from the dead.

This "prison" has long been regarded by the Catholic Church as the Limbo of the Fathers -- the place (or, better yet, spiritual state) for those righteous persons who died before Christ's time.

Christ's Resurrection and victory over death won for these souls "in prison" a place in Heaven.

No. All the people who lived before Jesus Christ came had a opportunity to receive or reject salvation from God. God has always left someone as a Christ like example to be a light unto people in darkness. For example, Enoch, Abraham, Melchizedek, and the prophets were all people who pointed to the coming of Christ. So people before Christ had no excuse for their sins. Jesus Christ told the story of Lazarus and the rich man. The rich man was tormented in hell, while Lazarus was carried into the bossom of Abraham. These are two examples of people before Christ where one went to paradise and the other hell.

Good question. It would be hugely unfair if they didn't get a fair chance, wouldn't it? And if things like Baptism and faith in Christ are required to get into heaven, there must be a mechanism in the true church of Jesus to enable those who never had the chance during life...to have the chance after death.

Only one church that I know of does any sort of saving ordinances for the dead. Check it out.

I find some of the post that say the jesus gets to go to hell and save everyone there really nonsensical. following that chain of thought Isn't it not fair that they get to see that god exists and still get a chance to choose. whereas we have to have faith and if we choose wrong we go to hell.

No, because there is no such place. When you're dead, you're dead. End of story. Any claim to the contrary is just a denial of reality.
