In Brevard county the tests are given in the second semester of the school year. February, I think...It is a test that questions them on every thing that they have learned so far in their school years..If they fail then they usually have a chance to go to summer school and take a prep class on the section they fail;ed or repeat the entire school year..Dont let everyone fool you..The test isn't difficult if yor children are getting the proper instruction from both the teachers and parents. As long as you are following up on your parenting ang making sure your child is learning and not falling through the cracks he or she wil not have a problem with the test.

call the school district and ask them those questions - every school and especially every state does it differently. Most schools give a standardized test - which is what this sounds like. It measure what your child knows again the standard for that grade level - what I mean is that it will tell you whether your child know less, the same, or more then is expected of someone in the same grade at the same time of year. Each school gives these at different times - but usually somewhere from march to the end of the year. But, check with your school so they can give you the exact answer that will apply to your daughter.

Sounds like what they call ISTEP here in my state.
These are standardized tests to check and see if students are meeting the state standards and learning the assigned curriculum. The first one is in 3rd grade where I live too. It's all a PITA part of meeting the NCLB act requirements. Our schools spend a lot of time reviewing and preparing students for our ISTEP test.

It's a government exam given by the state. It is designed to make all children (despite race) look equal in there learning ability. Which means if you are not a white kid then you get extra points on a bell curve. If you are a white kid you are on your own. Almost every kid always passes it. She just has to be prepared to sit still for an entire school day. She will take one part before Christmas break and another part before summer break. If she fails she can retake the test in summer school. If she still doesn't pass it her grade will be averaged into her real school work grade. I hate it for all students but they have to take it if they go to public school.

My middle girl is going in 4th, and I have never heard of such a thing. Contact the school she attends and ask. They should have a web site, I'm sure. Kids have to take so many darn tests...it's a wonder they can think to do homework later on.
