I think it's time he learns how to shoot but my wife says we have to wait until he is 4. I think she should shut her filthy yapper. Any parents out there who taught their 2-year-old to shoot? Thanks!

I am sorry, I know you want to do the "Dad" thing with the boy but I will have to side with the "filthy yapper" way to young to comprehend what they are doing and it may be developmentally inappropriate to be introducing the 2 year old to weapons to the child it is a toy you can't teach a two year old Gun respect and Gun Safety you must be patient sir you will get your Father son time in time Keep it real with "Spongebob" or the "Dodlebops" for now I say.

I think the 2 year old should learn the safety of guns show them what they can do and the dangers behind handling them wrong but they should wait until 3-4 to actually shoot a gun.

I think first and foremost you and your wife need to work on communication skills and you shouldn't put her down for what she believes. Maybe you 2 should compromise. I personally think that a 2 yr old will see a gun as a toy and remember accidents can happen. Would you want the guilt of something terrible if your 2 yr old got a hold of that gun and something horrible happened. I believe any child/adolescence should take a hunters safety course and be able to pass the test before ever dealing with a gun.

You can answer that for yourself. Do you want to end up at your two year olds funeral while he is still two?

A child that is two years old will look at a gun as a toy. They will not be able to tell the difference between that and a toy. They are no where near ready to "learn about guns" He is way too young and under-developed at just two years old.. but I also think four years old is too young. If you must teach them at a young age I would wait til at least 6-7 when they are truly able to tell what danger is.

This is a serious issue and I will not answer with an insult. I have an expert rating in combat handgunning so I am very pro-gun in my beliefs. I also believe that a child should learn the basics of gun safety and operation at an early age. It depends entirely upon the maturity of the child as to what age he is capable of understanding how to handle a firearm. But TWO?!?! C'mon, be more responsible than that! Your wife is being generous by allowing him to learn at age 4!

No, No, 2 is too young to shoot. You should teach them about guns in the aspect that "Guns are not toys, do not touch guns, and if they see a gun they need to tell mom and dad." Gun safety is important. I don't think that children should learn how to shoot guns until between 8 and 10 if you are planning on taking them hunting with you and such.

I was forced to shoot at a very early age. You really should wait until the child is old enough to decide if it's what they to do want or not. A little kid with a gun is not ever a good thing.

The only thing that you should be teaching a 2 year old about guns is to not touch them. He's neither old enough nor strong enough to handle shooting them, and he'll probably get hurt if you let him try.

Wait until he's at least 8, if you must teach him to shoot. Anything younger is asking for broken bones, gunshot wounds, and your arrest for child endangerment.

You are crazy. My son is 3 and he is a very smart but he doesn't know the concept the guns will kill you and hurt you really back. My son had play guns and when he got mad he would take his toy guns and start acting like he was shooting you so we took his toy guns away. All I have to say is wait until your child is about maybe 8.

Theres no way I would let a 2 or 4 year old around guns. Teach him about gun safety first. Then at 8 I would introduce him to guns.
