Again its unfortunate but many don't require them. We just recently had an Ohio and a KY county have to stop shooting them. Its each individual county. Many rural counties are alloted so much to run the shelter for a year and bullets and gas chambers are cheaper than blue juice, needles, anesthesia and training. You have to lobby the local representatives to make it a law to euthanize humanely. Good news is many shelters are run by women and they choose to do it humanely.

What is even more upsetting to me is how many of the larger county shelters with money will put an animal to sleep before giving it to another no kill shelter.!!! Its always the larger ones that have the money that want the money. The rural poorer county shelters are always happy to turn any pet over to us to save its life.

It does determination with suggestions from area and take care of, yet many places I were will carry them on a “stray era” for some days. Ask your close by shelters what the guidelines and take care of guidelines on your area are when you're curious for extremely own motives- the position I stay presently the stray era is merely 3 days. The very last state I lived in had a 7 day carry on strays. If the canines is got here upon with tags they're going to likely attempt to apply them to attempt to the contact the owner. If the owner doesn’t declare the canines in the stray era the take care of ought to euthanize the canines- no remember how pleasant- at their discretion. pleasant dogs are euthanized at shelters everyday if the take care of does no longer have the area or supplies to take care of them. also remember that some in the different case pleasant dogs that persons deliver to the take care of as strays or surrenders may no longer do properly in a take care of surroundings and may educate signs and indicators of aggression in the adventure that they are demanding or lower than pressure.

There are laws and regulations for humane euthanasia. There are also a few different methods. Just because you find it upsetting doesn't mean it is necessarily bad. Contact the Veterinary Medical Association or any Veterinary Medical colleges in your area. They can tell you if the method used is approved and lawful.
Good Luck.
PS What are they doing?

We went to peoples homes, told them what was going on than had them sign a petition. After that we went to a city counsel meeting about 3 months later they closed down the shelter.
