"Throwing" your voice IS ventriloquism. Yes, it is VERY difficult. Usually, you can either do it or you can't. Some people have a natural ability for it. Most of us don't.

it's very easy to do vent esp if your a guy ( you just grow a beard) there are an number of self help books dvd's and tapes as well as internet sites to get you started. But the real secret to a good vent act is not how well you do it but the content ( what you and your puppet say) of the act.

ventriloquists dont "throw" their voice, it is simply that the human ear cannot detect the location of sounds within about four feet of eachother
