Jehovah's Witnesses have the true religion.

The Jehovah's Witnesses that have appeared on my property are over-zealous and rude. I realize they are trying to "spread the word" and help me in what they believe is right. However, they don't take no for an answer and show up almost every weekend anyway. I've been yelled at through my door when I don't answer it and I've been accosted in my driveway and delayed from leaving because they were just sooooo sure I wanted to hear their message. They've scared the mess out of my kids, too.
So I can't say I'm super-thrilled with Jehovah's Witnesses although I do my best to remind myself that not every Jehovah's Witness is like this. They certainly have the right to believe as they see fit and, while I disagree with their particular beliefs, I just wish they'd afford me the same courtesy and leave me alone.

My mom is a JW. And if more of the ones I've met were like her (personality & faith-wise), the religion as a whole would have a much better image. ^_^
The problem is, although there are some I've met that are wonderful people, there are soooo many that are hypocrits (they stick their noses up at non-believers, but they themselves don't follow all of the 'teachings' and then make excuses for their behaviour), there are alot of close minded people (they try and convince you they are right but will not listen to your side, and cannot answer your questions, I've heard "because Jehovah/the Bible says so and that's the end of this conversation", countless times), and some that are just plain rude and don't know when to back off (I've had some JWs literally arguing w/ me outside my home, even to the point of calling me stupid, after I've told them several times that I was raised JW, I know the teachings, and I'm just not interested. & I'm friendly, but if you verbally attack me, I won't take it lying down). I have other complaints with the power they give to Elders (where even legal/criminal cases are handled by them instead of police, and where their word is almost law wrapped in suggestion or 'advice'), and quite a few other things I don't agree with...but that's why I'm not a JW anymore and choose not to take part in any form of organized religion.
It's a religion, a choice, I don't mind JWs, trying to educate others and try and get more people "into paradise" (you're just trying to 'save' people, more power to you in any religion), but please, know what you're talking about (it's much more convincing and satisfying to have someone know their scriptures & be able to answer questions), be friendly about it, and when someone says no thanks, leave a magazine or pamphlet if you have to but then leave that person alone!

Their doctrine seems to be extremely myopic. The entire church seems to revolve around a couple of scriptures in Revelation and they ignore all the "Good News" of the gospel. They believe that only 144,000 people will go to heaven, and those people have already been picked before the judgment day. Everyone else will remain here on the Earth, which will be in a better state than it is today...but still, I had a JW missionary tell me at my door that she "didn't want to go to heaven." That she would "rather stay here on the Earth because it will be much more interesting." I'm not making this up. And the thing about not celebrating any holidays or birthdays or having dances or parties of any kind...where in the world did that come from? That flies right in the face of all biblical tradition. Anyway, that's enough from me...

I have family memers who are Jehovah's Witnesses, but I've never been to one of their church services.
I know that the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society has predicted the year of the end of the world at least once--and been wrong, because we're still here--which makes that a false prophecy. When I was a Christian, that was enough to cause me to lose interest in that religion.
I also know that the New World Translation of the Bible has some pretty deliberate mistranslations, which you can find at this page: http://www.carm.org/jw/nwt.htm.
The whole door-knocking thing is a nice idea, but too repetitious to be a welcome event for most people.

I personally think the Jehovah's Witness people that I have met are nice people that want to share their message. I use to like talking to the ones that would come to my door. I also enjoyed the literature. I have a few of the same beliefs as they did and it was nice to exchange thoughts. Where I live now I don't get visited by anyone from that belief anymore.

A lot of people find you to be too agressive in sharing your beliefs.
Going door to door to spread your message (which keep in mind some other religious groups do as well) which many but certainly not all Jehova's Witnesses do is seen is an annoyance as a result the intended message whether positive or not is often lost on people who immediately associate Jehova's witnesses with door to door salesmen and telemarketers rather than as an actual religion.
As a result a lot of people take Jehova's Witnesses as being something of a joke. Jehova's Witnesses are seen by Western Society as being an annoyance more than a solemn and humble religion strictly because some take the means of spreading their beliefs door to door and the sheer overzealousness and in some cases rudeness displayed by those just intending to "Spread the word" about their faith.
If you'd like to read a somewhat interesting story about a family in England and their problems with Jehovah's Witnesses take a look at the news story linked below.
While obviously most Jehova's Witnesses do not engage in such door to door activities, the overzealousness of those spreading the word is quite literally most peoples only impression of the religion. As a result it's not seen positively by a lot of Western Society, this is especially true outside of small areas where a large percentage of the population are followers of that faith. In large cities and suburban areas they are often as mentioned above categorized with telemarketers, door to door salesmen and other solicitors rather than as people trying to spread their beliefs. It's a case of a group being stereotyped based on the actions of a few, but unfortunately that's how Jehovah's Witnesses are seen by most of society.

I totally disagree with the witnesses. You deny Jesus' divine deity and also that He is not God. Jesus is God. The Bible is very clear on this.Your belief that Jesus is michael the archangel is also false. How can Jesus be michael when Hebrews 13:8 says that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever? And you know that there is not one verse to back this statement up that Jesus is michael in the Bible. However I really get upset when jws deny Jesus' divine deity and say that He is not God. Hebrews 1:8 Revelations 1:8 Isaiah 9:6 1 Timothy 3:16 John 1:1 John 20:28 all say that Jesus is God and for you to just believe only what you want really upsets me. I have had many witnesses show up at my door and we go round and round. Your false teachings are wrong and all your prophecy's have always been wrong. I just wander how people would still stay in it? As for only 144,000 being saved and going to heaven that is also false teaching. Jesus Christ died for all of mankind not just 144,000 like you teach. I could go on and on about jws. To deny Jesus' deity just irritates me to no end. So now you know my take on your false doctrines and teachings.

I am not a witness but i did study on and off for a while. I have a JW friend who still comes by to talk to me everyonce and a while. I have nothing bad to say about them. Some things they believe I agree and some things im ify about. I think the concept of paradise earth is beautiful. I know they are very dependable and nice and are never argumentative with me at all when I ask a question. God bless!

The Jehovah Witness have created another Book in which they are convinced it is truth (another Gospel). Which is no gospel at all. They are blinded to its truths and there minds are seared. In other words they are ignorant when presented with Biblical truth from the Bible!
The Apostle Paul gave warning concerning people who would bring another Gospel! Which I'm positive you have heard alot of times. I marvel that ye are so soon removed from Him(Jesus) that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
Which is NOT another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the Gospel of Christ.
But though we, or an angel form heaven, preach any other gospel unto you let him be accursed.
Galatians 1:6-9
There is no other Gospel according to Ephesians 4:5-6.
ONE Lord,(Jesus) One Faith(Jesus),One Baptism(Jesus). One God and Father of all!(Jesus) Isaiah 9:6. There is only One not another!
Jesus is Jehovah Salvation!

I think you have a right to your own religion, if you are happy, maybe that is where you are suppose to be right now. I have a niece who is a "Jehovah's Witness". She was raised that way, and is happy. The only problem I have with your religion, is when people come and knock on my door(especially durring the holidays I chose to reconize). Other than that, I have no problem with it.
