Do you have to speak in other tounges as the spirit gives utterance to recieve the Holyghost?

please do not give me your idealogy,but scriptural referenced

thats very intresting feedback,but what does everybody think of Mark 16:16,and Acts 2:4 and is there a diffrence between the gift of tounges and the miracle of tounges that the disciples of John recieved in Acts 19?

I believe that receiving the holyghost is speaking in tounges..b/c when you speak in tounges...its the holyghost that lives in you that is directly speaking with God in heaven.... so I do believe that when you receive the holyghost you receive the gift of tounges....I hope I helped you....

No. You just have to be open to receive it. This is not my idealogy, but personal experience. I do not speak in tounges, however have received the Holyghost. It is the most overwhelming freeing feeling that anyone could ever ask for. All you have to do is be connected and invite the spirit in and let God do the rest.

yes u have t o speak in tounges because the holy spirit will understand a language that is not spoken by all men and u will recieve the holyghost that is the answer i got from a service i attended.if its ok.

No. Paul says in 1 Cor chapter 12 that tongues is a lesser gift and to desire the greater gifts.

But tongues is a prayer language well worth receiving. You don't ever have to use it in public. It is commonly used when you don't know how to pray. I usually pray in tongues(or in the spirit) first when praying over someone for healing. Which is letting my spirit commune with God's while I wait for inspiration of how to pray.

This is not my ideology either but it is my personal experience. Sorry, but I do not have a bible with me. However, at the moment you accept and receive Jesus Christ you are saved and received the Holy Spirit. But tongues should follow. Tongues are the evidence that you are being filled with the Holy Spirit. Alot of believers say that you are not saved unless you speak in tongues. This is not true. Alot of people who get saved do not have the knowledge or understanding to recieve tongues and their faith is hindered to recieve tongues. Or, they are at a church where tongues is not taught and they are hindered.

No, if you look into First Corinthians 12 and see the gifts the holy spirit gives, tongues is only one of many. It actually is not even one you are allowed to do around others unless you have someone to translate it.
Look at how it say "to another..." meaning not to all.

1 Now about spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant. 2 You know that when you were pagans, somehow or other you were influenced and led astray to mute idols. 3 Therefore I tell you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus be cursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit. 4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men. 7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8 To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.
