My answer is no. Everyone keeps telling me, "You know, our troops are fighting for your right to say that!" Uh...no they're not! If they were in any other war, I'd totally agree that they're defending our freedom of speech, but Iraq is not going to invade us and turn us communist. There's nothing about freedom of speech involved in this war.
I agree, they're fighting for some type of freedom - our freedom from fear, from being attacked by terrorists...but there will always be terrorists. ALWAYS. We will never be rid of them.
Oh. And just so you know, I've never bashed the troops. I bash Bush and the government that allows him to be a terrorist. I totally support the troops, and I just want them brought home, where they're REALLY needed. Hell, my fiancee's a Marine, who's at risk to be sent to Iraq. So I don't put down the troops or the military, so don't yell at me for that.

I agree they are fighting out fear the current adminstration has created by trying to convince American's there is a boogie man behind every door, and that they can only be removed by force. They are also fighting because Americans have been convinced that we can only solve problems by force. We wonder why our kids fight rather than talk to solve problems, even though our President refuses to talk with our so-called enemies.

First off, I completely agree with m1a1mikegolf because he is right
but my answer is the troops regardless of who their government officials are, fight for the people back home, the same people who are quick to call us murderers and child killers, the same people who are too afraid to serve their country, but would rather trash it. Mike is right, by you staying safe at home as it should be, you will never know what is really happening out there, all u have to choke on is what ccn, bbc, and fox and other stations sell you. You will never know all the good, you will never know all the bad. Our enemies want you dead. they want every non Muslim dead, hell they even want other Muslims dead because their version of their religion is different. Our enemies are ruthless and are afforded many more luxuries on the battlefield then they give us. Why? because if we were to move down to their level ( one, we would be far more efficient in my opinion) but some tree hugger lib back home would be crying that we are not fighting fair, and the baby killer comments will flow even more than they are. War is not easy but it has to be done. And for those that said violence never solved anything...I have to words, Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Violence shouldn't be the way to answer problems but sometimes it is the only way.
*i know not all muslims are bad, sorry but what i meant was the muslim extremists, the ones who truely do not follow the qurran

There are always going to be people who agree and disagree with everything that happens. In every war, there were probably reasons to fight and reasons to NOT fight. The thing is, Saddam Hussein was a terrorist. Maybe not to us, maybe not blatantly, maybe not yet. But, I've always said, if you could hurt the people you are supposed to love and protect, what atrocities are you capable of? Those are the people that we should be the most afraid of. Waiting for someone to attack us is not the way to handle any situation, not with bullies at school or with the world's bullies.
There will always be terrorists, you are right. But does that mean we should just let them do what they want and not try to stop them?

you know what?? i was in Iraq and if you were to speak out about your country or military like you are especially being a female; they would beat you and most likely your family would disown you and have you hung. Sounds pretty harsh just for having an opinion huh??? well when SADDAM was in power, that is what would have happened(and yes you would be raped). the Arab world does not allow their females to have a say in any matter except when in their homes. outside they are not allowed to even look at men. they cant date, they have arranged marriages, they must always be accompanied by other female family members. Your own family would kill you if you yelled at your father or someone of importance in public, if they found out you were having sex and you weren't wed; guess what they would do??? they would stone you to death for being a whore. Now i want you to imagine if the US was like that??? remember freedom isn't free!!!!!

Because if the terrorists were to get an upperhand on the US, or defeat the US entirely, they will be able to get more control on the lifestyle. Perhaps by giving us the fear of saying or protesting things because they will attack us for that, therefore they still are defending our right to free speech by keeping the terrorists from hurting us for the things we say or protest/support.

You just are not aware of it because we are making sure the fighting occurs far away from you.
