I score preety well in my exams & give level best to make happy my parents. I am studying in class X and have scored full marks in the previous session in Maths. My mum is really happy but my dad is not happy at all. After so much of my efforts I achieved a rank in my class & am preparing for my boards with great concentration. After all these things, my father shouts on me & says that I dont work hard etc.etc. He complains that i don't study under him & if I study under him I would top in boards. But i dont want to study under him bcoz of 2 reasons: 1) he is not able to teach me correctly . He's aint a good tutor at all bcoz I am not able to understand a faether thin with him.2) After teaching for only 1 hour (in whole year of 2005) before final examinations he went on declaring to everyone that i got full marks just because he taught me but I knw that it all my & my tutors efforts. What to now?????

that's messed up. Don't know what to tell ya. I wish I could do well in my classes though. Keep working hard, someday he will see that you are smarter than him

How about sitting down with Dad and explaining that you are grateful that he wants to help you, but this is something that you need to do yourself? If you start the conversation by telling him he's a good parent, and you learned a lot from him when you were younger, it might appease his ego enough to make him relax a little. You might also enlist the help of your mother so the two of you can help your dad understand that he's not helping you be yelling. It seems that he is insecure if he has to brag to his friends that your success is because of his efforts. Point out something positive that he really does and maybe he'll back off. Good luck!

well you said that he seemed pretty self-satisfied after only teaching you for an hour. so maybe you can let him "teach" you for another hour this year, but still get your own help from tutors and such, and then he won't be able to say that you didn't let him try

... if he gets really bad, speak to a teacher or counselor at your institution

Ignore his shouting! Your teachers are professionals, you work hard and do your best, thats all you can do.
Good luck.
