You can have any number of passive scanners on your system as long as you only use them one at a time. You should only have one active resident scanner running at a time. Try adding bitdefender to your virus arsenal!

AVG has a good personal use Anti-Virus product available at: http://free.grisoft.com

Avast Antivirus, also for non-commercial use is available at: http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Both these products include active background scanning modules!

Bitdefender has an excellent scanner and removal tool but does not have any active background protection in the free version that is available at: http://www.bitdefender.com/site/Main/view/Download-Free-Products.html

Try using Norton Antivirus! But, one thing you cannot have more than one Antivirus because they conflict with each other because they're all different usually Norton Antivirus already has Adware Protection, Anti-Spy, A Firewall, Antivirus, and many other features to keep your computer running to it's peak performance. It's the same thing with a Firewall you can only have one active if you have a Windows Xp when you install your antivirus with a firewall it would ask you which Firewall you would prefer to use. I would recommend using the Firewall that came with the Antivirus Software. Usually, the Windows Xp or any other windows Firewall is just basic protection.

It is possible for conflicts to arise between too many anti virus software present on your computer.

The best thing is to have one antivirus software on your computer.
