My last boyfriend had pursued me for quite a while but he wasn't my type. He was skinny. I like beefy men. He wasn't good-looking. He was actually rather rough around the edges. He finally convinced me to go on a date with him at night after we had several lunch dates. He was funny and attentive so I gave him a chance. We went to a neighboring city (about 25 miles away) and ate a nice restaurant, went for a walk in the park and fed the ducks, then he drove to a hotel. I was automatically on the defensive. I was thinking to myself that I know that this "fool" didn't think that he had worked his way up on a piece of a**. I told him that he might as well take me home. He told me not to jump to conclusions and that he had something special planned for me if I would just relax and allow him. Reluctantly, I agreed to go up to the room with him. When I entered the room there were candles and roses everywhere. He turned on some music and had some grape juice cocktail chilled (I don't drink alcohol). He asked me to sit down and talk with him because he had something in his heart that he wanted to share with me. Keep in mind that I was still suspicious. I complied and we sat across from each other looking into each other's eyes. He told me that he had really grown fond of me and that I was everything he ever wanted in a woman. He said that he just got joy from being in my presence. He told me that he loved my smile, my laugh, the way that I moved, the thoughts that I expressed and the way that I carried myself. He said that he wanted to be the only man in my life if I would give him the chance. He said that he understood that I had been hurt in the past but his intentions were to love me and treat me like the wonderful, sexy woman that he knew that I was. He asked me to trust him and give him a chance to love me. I was still hesitant but something in his eyes screamed sincerity. I was speechless and caught up in the moment that he had taken great efforts to create for me. Understand that he had to drive to this hotel earlier in the day and set up this scene and he did this without knowing if I would agree to go to the room. He took a chance on me. I nodded and told him that I couldn't refuse such an offer. We slow danced to the love music that he had selected for a moment and then we kissed sweetly and passionately. He held me so close and long. (This was just what the doctor ordered because I had just gone through a divorce seven months earlier.) Of course he was a man and he let me know that if I was ready to take things to another level and have sex, he was ready. The sweetest part about the whole evening was that after I declined sex, he still acted like he had won the lottery. We spent the night in that hotel room and we slept in the same bed on top of the covers, him with his shirt off and me, fully clothed. He was the perfect gentleman. My relationship with him lasted 18 months. He was the nicest, most mild-mannered, most loving guy that I had ever had a relationship with. Too bad he and I didn't agree on what it took to have a happy life. I miss his sweetness and consideration.

My husband came home from work with Victorias Secret gifts and body sprays and told me to get ready because he was taking me out. He took me to the most expensive Seafood Restaurant off of the Riverwalk....(Landry's) and we had dinner in a boat. That wasn't it though....He rented a 5-star Luxury hotel for us and had rose petals and champagne and everything for me in there. Anyway.....the night passed & in the morning he had arranged for Breakfast-in-Bed for us and after that we got ready, and went to get massages! It was WONDERFUL!!!

When my spouse of 22 years first proposed to me, he said, "Leap Day is coming up. Let's get married then, so we will be newlyweds for at least a decade, and in years that aren't leap years, there will be a little bit of of our anniversary in every day."
We did, and and he was right.
