dear... keep in mind that when you pray its for Him not for you. i used to be like that before that i have to feel this "something" whenever i sing praise or talk to him, but i have read the book Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren that we should not rely on our emotions when we pray. you just have to keep your faith, and please the Lord while you worship him, and not yourself. i hope this helps... God bless you!

well it seems that u r really confused so let me tell u this that there is no good way or bad way to communicate with GOD.IF U R GOOD FROM HEART THEN U R way is enough but u should keep 1 thing in mind that be soft and just bow down (not
in front of any images) as they r not real, just do what i said and try to question anything which seems wrong.have the spirit 2 search for the truth and u will really communicate with GOD.
EVER tried to read the KORAN well that is something which changed my life .just get a translated but correct version and be spiritually open minded and it will be easy to know HIM IN A BETTER WAY.please take my advice as it changed my view for Islam .i just knew that i was a Muslim but did not perform any prayer and religious stuffs (i was rather a non-muslim)but when i listened to a verse of Koran i was moved and i decided to read the translated version,i loved it and let me tell u this that 80% of Koran has been proved scientifically correct and religious leaders have declared that Arabic is the sweetest language on earth .do believe me and accept my opinion.

im in the same boat as you girl. i want to pray more and when i do pray i want to feel it deep inside. i sometimes shy away from praying too laud. i think the best thing to do is pray in your room. which im sure you do. close the door and pray as loud as you want. also, you can go to prayer night at church. if your church has this. at my church anyone can come on Tuesday and Wednesday night to pray. not very many people come so if its like that at your church then you can start to pray more and loud and not be shy. also the bes t thing to do is pray to the Lord and tell him you want the Holy Spirit. Do you have it? do you beleive in it? when you pray and you have the Holy Spirit, you pray with such force and with such passion you completly forget where your at and who is around you. you becom so filled with this spirit that you start talking in touges. its nothing to be afraid of. its only the Lord speaking through you. so every other word would come out were people would understand you. if your not sure what this is then ask your pastor. he will know. i dont have the Holy SPirit. you have to ask for it from the Lord. He will give it to you when you are ready. God Bless You.

Your desire to be closer to our Lord is a good start. Perhaps you are ready for a change in your prayer life, or are ready to add onto your journal. I find repeating the Lords Prayer before I pray very helpful...."Our father who art in heaven.....". It helps to ask forgiveness with sincere humbleness to rid your sins. Yes, we sin all the time....... we will always be human in nature. I also find going to His beautiful surroundings in quiet peaceful solitude and taking and breathing Him in.....whether that be near a lake, in the mountains, or whatever finds you close to Him. Being alone with God in this way really helps me. Be ever vigilant in having the Lord before you and 1st in your life, and when you are listening more intently in this way, you'll be able to hear Him much clearer. If not, He'll bring you into correction and trial to bring you closer to HIm. Just wait upon the Lord...........

Make sure that when you come to God in prayer that you have no unforgiveness in your heart. If you do have unforgiveness ask God to help you with it so that He can help you to forgive anyone that has done anything to you in addition to asking forgiveness for you doing anything to someone else. Sometime we hurt others without even knowing and we should ask God to reveal this to us when we do. Unforgiveness and bitterness are major factors that can hinder your prayer life. Especially if you hold on to something for too long it can feel like your hitting a wall when we to talk to God.
Also the gift of speaking in tounges, which I have, will also help you in your prayer life. Its Gods language that the devil can not interrupt. See, when you speak in your native language the devil can understand your prayers and he tries to come between your prayers and God. But when you have the gift of tounges, the devil cannot understand what you are saying therefore he cannon come against you. If i'm confusing you put it like this - if someone knows what your saying then they can use it against you, right, but if they don't know what you are saying then they feel lost and defeated. Tounges is the perfect prayer of God. God knows what you need so when you pray in tounges God speaks through you on everything that you need and want to pray for.

Sounds to me like you already remarkably far more along in your relationship with God than most. There was a time when I myself would pray but feel it wasn't being listened to. That has since changed and I feel that I am talking to God and He is listening, and it seems the same for you. I would say continue praying in whatever way makes you feel that you are talking to God. You say you pray aloud because it makes it feel more real, I do the opposite, it feels more real when I say what I want to in my head and directed to God. As long as you feel you are connecting, seems like either way is good to me, God hears the prayers and listens to you either way, right.

if you want to improve, you should do it how, when, and wherever you want - it doesn't just have to be in church with your head bowed and hands together. Also, realize that prayer isn't just about asking, it can be celebratory or thankful, too. You can always pray to the Divine to just say "thank you" or "hey, I'm feeling you today!" Why not dance, sing, write, draw, paint, walk in the woods, whatever it is you need to do to feel the connection.

The only way to improve a solid prayer life is to keep doing it! Many people in the Bible were noted for their prayer life by praying several times a day, not just when Satn was attacking them, but in thanks as well. In all that you're grateful for, give Him praise. In all that he's brought you out of, give Him praise. You can't go wrong when you "Pray without ceasing."

Um..I think you've got everything covered. Don't think too hard on it. Even without a journal, you're as close to God as you'll ever be just by thinking of him in your heart.

Well,i know your problem i had it for a while, what i would do is call on Jesus before you start praying, because he said that when you call on him your actually calling on the Father, and make your petetions and intercessions be made through him,and ask him to lead you and fill you with his HolySpirit, because its his Spirit that makes intercession for us with moanings and groanings that can not be uttered!
