Just because they can. They feel good about being in control of someone or something, because they are always use to getting rejected and for once they have control, or they have always been assshole and enjoy making others feel inferior to them. Also, some could be control freaks and if someone objects to their authority or acquaintance of some type-they'll never let you forget.

Some people have such bad self-esteem that they can't feel good about themselves when compared to others. The only way they can make themselves feel better is to put others down or to make the lives of others more difficult.

Some people have a narcisstic personality where they don't care about others. They feel that they are the only ones who matter, and they do whatever makes them feel better without considering the effects on others.

Other people are sociopathic and they can't feel empathy toward others. This is similar to narcisstic people, but there are differences. Narcisstic people can feel emotions but just don't care. Sociopathic people just don't feel the normal emotions, and don't care.
