Same reason all those idiots we trained were captured and eventually killed in The Bay of Pigs invasion! Political influence. Politics has killed alot of our troops.

Is this a request for some jokes about the French and how many times they "cut their losses". Let's face it, the last brave frenchman was Napoleon and he was a short tyrant with some really sanity issues.

As for the ego....do you know how to say that in German, because if it were not for the US, that would be ALL the French would be speaking.

We are far more generous as a people than anyone else in the world.

We are truly the land of opportunity.

We have a government that will actually respond to our issues..... Have you ever called or written a government representative? Here in the US, they will answer. Sometimes they answer in the form of a letter, but other times, they will actually call you. Give that a try in any other country in the world and see what you get.

First of all, the French haven't won a war on their own since the 19th century, so their loss in a war is nothing for a powerful nation to "hang their hat on." Second, the US did not lose in Korea (Truman just wimped out and replaced MacArthur). Lastly, Vietnam was a withdrawal, not a loss --- if we had lost, these messages would be in Vietnamese.

The "ego" comes from being the most powerful nation on Earth. We've bailed the western world (i.e. France) out of TWO world wars, so I think we've earned the right to be egotistic.

we only lost those wars at home in the streets and Washington. A general ask for ten thousand more men so he could end Vietnam and a certain influential politician gave him 200 helicopters! And if we lost Korea why is there still a south Korea. The air force asked to bomb inside north Vietnam and hit the ho chi minh trail but was told by a chief of staffs it was too "dangerous". And in Vietnam vc and nva were coming through Laos and Cambodia where we couldn't go and get them. they would make fast hit and run tactics just inside the border and then run into Laos and laugh.

Oh my. We're arguing sins of the Fathers now? Vietnam was about to be ended and we were to withdraw completely when John F. Kennedy was assassinated. But too many people were making money off that war to end it. Corporations are the ones that fund for profit. The people of the countries get left with the bills, the invoices, and the losses of our husbands, fathers, dauthers, brothers, and sons.

The United States, when headed by presidents who are far to interested in helping make themselves and their "friends" rich, will get us into situations such as the ones you named. And, that is exactly what we are in Iraq now.

Different countries with different international responsibilities. The US is looked to as a world leader in all sorts of things, including disaster relief and conflict intervention. People only really get upset when the US takes a proactive posture against things like terrorism, but the responsibility in this arena is not any less.

We won in Vietnam. Country is democratic with a growing economy. Communism is dead. We won in a partial victory in Korea. South Korea is one of the strongest countries in Asia and we stopped the spread of communism.

Your wrong,

The U.S. was part of the United Nations police action in Korea and the U.N. didn't lose in Korea the conflict ended in a draw. It might have ended sooner but the Chinese entered the war and things got complicated.

The French have a long history of "cutting their losses". Frankly I'm glad we haven't chosen to follow their "wisdom".

We only lost because our government allowed us to lose. Are you joking ? We could have wiped them off the map. We were not suppose to win that war, It was all about politics and money at the cost of human life.
