Tofu is FABULOUS for your body -- it's saturated with protein, and has no cholesterol.
But, it tastes like doodie (I'm a vegetarian).
Moringstar Farms and Boca Burgers make products that can help ease the transition -- they have prepared different faux meat products (such as the chicken parmesan burger, the veggie grillers, fake bacon, sausage . . .) that are just fabulous.
You can also delve into the pasta realm (I'm all about pasta) and that doesn't mean you have to do tomato sauce every day -- try tossing some pene with olive oil and some sauteed green pepper and onion.
There are so many delicious things for vegetairans to eat . . . don't let the 'no more meat' push you away -- you can be healthy, happy, and satisfied without eating the flesh of animals.

Vegetarians don't eat seafood. Fish are animals. Some eat tofu and some dont. I cant stand the stuff but I like soy burgers and veggie dogs.
You can get all the protein you need quite easily on a vegetarian diet if you eat right. Whole grains and legumes are very good sources.

I eat tofu. A lot of vegetarians eat tofu. It's a good source of protein and replacement for meat. In a strict sense, if you eat seafood you're not a vegetarian, though. I recommend checking chinese or Japanese food for ideals on how to cook tofo. My favorite is tofu and asparagus, or tofu and broccoli.

Well, it depends what kind of vegetarian you want to become. There are vegans, who will not eat any animal derived products at all, including eggs, cheese, etc. Yo need to decide. I would suggest that perhaps you start as a more relaxed vegetarian, including milk, cheese, perhaps eggs and fish in your diet. You don't want to shock your body. Also, it will enhance your chances of adopting a vegatarial lifestyle forever. Tofu is certainly very good for you, and contrary to many beleives, if prepared properly it can be quite tasty. You may want to consider including other high-protein foods such as nuts in your diet. And vitamins will certainly be necessary to keep you healthy. You will feel much better.

Tofu is good for you, although it's not the only vegetarian food out there. I'd recommend looking up "Vegetarian Times" or the "Vegetarian Journal," and maybe even get yourself a subscription.
You posted your question under "diet & fitness," although there is a section in Yahoo! Answers for "vegetarian/vegan" (check under food, cooking, etc.). There you'll find some great recipes.

Check the links below - there should be a beginning within some of that data. I feel that being a vegetarian is not for everyone, however, I feel that if that is definately what you want to do - go for it!!!! You will definately "smell" better if you don't "feel" better.

I do not fairly maintain the Boca burgers. I like Gardenburger bigger. Boca burgers style like a foul hamburger and I do not consume meat on the grounds that I do not like the feel, so Boca does not paintings for me. The Gardenburgers I like are made with grains, beans and mushrooms, so I do not suppose like I'm consuming meat.
