I'm 19, Ive been dying my hair all sorts of colors for about 7 years. For the past 2-3 years I have been dying it black. Ive been trying not to dye it as much. Ive been thinking about going back to my natural color seeing as I don't want my hair to fall out when I'm 30. I have naturally medium-to-dark brown hair.

You really should go to a salon where a professional can strip the present color from your hair without damaging it. Then the natural color can be processed into your hair leaving it with a healthy shine.

I did that mistake several times and ended up going to a hairdresser and spending so much money on removing it. I am afraid that this is the only way that you could remove black: by bleaching your hair and applying a color close to your natural color til your hair grows.

Go see a professional. Black hair dye saturates your hair really well, even if you do it at home an extra pair of hands will make it easier. You may need a stripper to get it out. Its just so much easier to have a professional with all the chemicals on hand to do your hair.

Go to a salon or use a hair color remover but all that does is bleach it.

You can either wait and as it grows cut off the color. Or you can go and get your hair professionally stripped. It is totally going to fry your hair to get it stripped, Go and get a great deap conditioner like...Biolage.

I know it is expensive, but if you cannot pay a hairdresser to do, then just let it grow out and keep trimming the ends.

Good luck. A lot of us go through it at one time so you are not alone.
