A 4-engine flameout on a military charter bound for Japan back in 1983.

Due to fuel mismanagement, all 4 engines failed within about 30 seconds of each other. We were about 100 miles from Tokyo. The pilot came on the PA and told us that we had enough altitude to make it to Tokyo but that it might be a rough landing and had the cabin crew get us ready for a crash landing.

About 15 minutes or so later, as most us had made our peace with out maker, they were able to transfer enough fuel to the main tanks and successfully execuded an "air start" as we passed through about 17,000 feet. We landed uneventfully a few minutes later.

At least one atheist on board -- sitting next to me -- had a very deep conversation with God that day.

On the upside of it all, they claimed that the plane needed maintenance and put us up at a 5-star hotel in Tokyo for the night while that was taken care of. I did note that the cockpit crew was different when we left for Korea the next morning.

Well, most of my bad experiences are in the airport, not on the plane. My worst airplane experience would be landing in the middle of a blizzard and then being trapped on the plane for 2 hours because they couldn't move that walkway thing up to the plane due to snow and ice. There is nothing like flying through a blizzard, landing in a blizzard (my non-religious *** was praying just in case), then being told you can not exit the plane...for 2 hours.

sitting in a UAL 767 on a taxiway at JFK. It's raining like all hell dark as all dickens and I'm listening to ATC on channel 9. ATC declares a ground stop. There is an Alitllia 747 parked on an active runway which is perpendicular to us and i can clearly see the aircraft. The controller is telling the 747 pilot to move his plane because it's on an active runway and the Alitallia pilot is arguing with him. I'm getting visions of Teneferie dancing in my head. Finally ATC loses it and threatens to have the 747 towed , the pilot understands and moves the 747.

when i was little i flew to new york and there was some turbulence which scared the crap out of me but w/e in 1999 i flew to bimini in a small plane & while you are over bimini you can see everythin in the water(including the sharks that'd eat you if you should crash!! j/k) well when we were leaving bimini there was a dog asleep on the run way! we were delayed about 30 minutes waiting for him to wake up cause we couldn't get off the plane & the doc wouldn't let the pilot "move up to scare the dog away"

Do you really want to know?!?

Well, let's see, I have:

* shelled engines, on a couple occasions this was caused from sucking in birds

* lost one or more hydraulic systems in a single flight

* had an APU fire

* had engines fail on me

* overheated brakes on aborted takeoffs

* had fuel leaks that were so vigorous that it looked like fuel was being shot out of a fully pressurized fire hose.

* one time I took off with an aircraft door completely missing (there was a string of events that led up to this one, including a bypassed annunciator that if not bypassed, would have warned us of this situation)

* I'm sure there are several others that I am not recalling right off hand.

Once when flying on a relatively small jet airplane (don't remember the type) during a time i had a cold... when the plane descended i was unable to release the pressure from my ears... it felt like they are going to explode... finally they didn't :)
but it was painful. i think its a combination of a not too good pressurizing system with the fact that my nose was blocked... ouch...

Mid-Atlantic turbulence on the way home from Scotland....lets just say I love to fly and when we hit it, I was in tears. And yes I would fly again

My connecting flight was delayed due to 'weather' conditions yet when it actually took off there was nothing but blue sky all the way.. When I finally got to NewYork I had 10 minutes to find my terminal and gate and catch my flight home. I despise AMERKIN AIRLINES and will never again fly with these incompetent fools.
