I currently use an F100 so I have lenses that will work with the D200. Is the D200 really worth the extra money over the D70s?

The D200 is a fantastic camera: very sturdy and well-built - metal body, very fast focusing for action not to mention 5 fps, great LCD display, and comfortable to handle.

It is expensive compared to a D50/70 and is really for an advanced amateur/professional. Unless you're experienced, I would not suggest it for a beginner or as a first DSLR as there can be a steep learning curve. A D50 or D70s would be a better choice.

I like everyone's answers, but I'm just adding that I have had my D200 for about 9 months and it is simply an amazing camera. It will be the Camera of the Year, I am sure. maxma is right that it is not good as a first camera and not even as a first digital camera, unless you have extensive experience and abilities with high end film cameras. You would just find the D200 to be frustrating.

por, I also have a D70s. If you really know your way around this camera, the step up to the D200 will be very easy for you, but the added features are simply awesome. As much as I like the D70; as wonderful a camera as it is, it seems like only a hint of what you can expect in the D200. Go for it.

I had a Fugi 602z that the manufacturer mentioned used to be a 6mp digicam nevertheless it used to be a three. They have been claiming that interpolation factor then nevertheless it used to be nonetheless only a 3 and all of the specialists, and many others. additionally mentioned it used to be a three. I have no idea if that is the identical factor you point out right here but when they're pronouncing they mix pixels to double pixel depend, I'd be cautious. Have you seemed on the Nion 18-2 hundred VR lens? It would do away with the will for among the lenses you stated and make getting out within the subject slightly less complicated for you. If you might promote the lenses it could change and placed the cash for a Fugi within the pot, you would pop out even. Less lens swaps = much less filth.

I also own a D200. It's simply a fantastic camera. It's gets great reviews and it's also won a few industry awards.
Regarding Panacea's answer, I agree that the Canon 5D has better image quality. The flip side is that the 5D lacks the features and build quality that I want and costs $1,200 more. Apples and oranges.
