I am a doctor........ it is because it seems to me you drink alot now if you dont weigh alot it doesnt take alot of alcohol for you to get drunk. So since you drink alot and weigh a little less than you should yor kidneys probobly hurt from all that alcohol. Try limiting it to maybe 2 days in a week. And dont drin hard alcohol either your kidneys may or already be damaged.

It could be any number of things, but one common thing that kidney soreness can mean is dehydration.
If you're not drinking enough water, your kidneys will start to hurt. When you drink alcohol, it dehydrates you, so this could be the problem.
Try drinking a lot more water between alcoholic drinks, before you go to bed, if you wake up in the middle of the night, and when you get up in the morning. If you are urinating regularly, then you are getting enough. Don't overdo it too much, chugging gallons of water or anything like that, as this can lead to water poisoning and sickness or even death. (It takes a LOT of water to do this though.)
If your kidneys are still hurting even if you're positive that you're taking in enough water, then go see a doctor. It could be something serious, and you don't want to mess around with problems like that.

alcohol is bad for your kidneys and liver....but it depends on how much and how often you drink a bottle of wine....you probably should ask your doc you could have kidney stones. also you might want to consider not drinking for a few weeks to see if the symptoms go away...unfortunately as we age there is less and less that our bodies can tolerate...maybe your body is saying not to drink anymore or at least slow down.

you may have a urinary tract infection and it could have spread to your kidneys. Wine dehydrates, as does all alcohol, which in turn makes you not have to use the bathroom, which allows bacteria to remain in your urinary tract. As far as drinking a bottle of wine and be fine the next day, I used to be the same way when I was younger, maybe you are developing a lower tolerance to it?

Probably just a kidney infection.
Drink a lot of water the next day.
Just in case though, I'd call a doctor.
Better to be safe than sorry.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.
They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!
This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.
It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.
