Just becoz i dont make as much as my sisters (im only 21, they're 28, 31, respectively) my father really wanna feel like a failure. He compared me to a cousin of mine (who is very rich & well-established, religious as well) & likes to embaress me in front of our relatives. The problem is, he & i dont speak a lot, & i'm happy w/ that coz everytime he asks something its eaither somethin very stupid, simple or just his ussually-hostile tone. I dont look up to him whatsoever, i just hope he respects me enough & my authority. He threw my cats away3 yrs ago & planned to abandon myonly dog as well. Is this all happening becoz i'm the only one not making enough money (i'm a college studnet, working part time), he desnt argue or bicker (even embarress) my sisters in front of the relatives, though its common knowledge my older sister is quite a failure herself.
How do i stp him from embarrassing me & to respect me & my property?

yes though i am not as old as any of you. i am 16, and i have 1 older brother. both my parents think he is the greatest son ever, and i am the worst posable. even when i score higher in 3 out of 4 tests they still think he is better. it is very hard on me because i do most of the cooking, i ride my bike as often as i can, and dont use up there gas, i clean the house, and do almost every thing. my brother sits in front of the tv and does next to nothing. he cant cook, does not ride a bike,( he can but wont), i easly do 5x the work he does. in almost every way. yet he gets all the praize.

Unfortunately he doesn't have to respect your "authority" because you don't have any when it comes to your father.
If you don't live on your own, you may want to start thinking about it. That's the only way you're going to ensure that he can't touch your things.
As for getting him to stop treating you in a crappy manner in front of people maybe you should talk to him and tell him how he makes you feel.

Yes it can happen but put this in your mind You are not a failure.
Its just that they didint make their dream happen when they were younger and might had strict parent who has stop them to follow their dream,and now they dont want their kids to be like them .
You are young and can do something good to your life.be strong,study and dont let nobody stand in your way cause one day you will be happy and proud of yourself.good luck

Next time he embarasses you in front of family and friends, tell him right in front of them how much he is hurting you when he does these things.. You are your own person, it takes courage to go back to school and hold a job (even if part time) keep going. I sincerely applaud you if you ever want to email me to keep in touch look under my name.

yeah they make me really feel like a failure, but they dont complain to me like the way ur dad duz. my parents gave up on my a while ago n they just dont care wat i do anymore, while they give all the attention to my brother n sister. when we have a guest come over my parents always introduce them to the guest n they kinda forget about me. it stinks to be the stupid embarassing one in the family

my mom and dad dont do that but my grandma sure dose... im sure everybody elese loves there grandmas but i dont she tells me im stuipd, im not gonna get anywhere in life, that im a dirty whore(wtf) and it gose on so i can feel ur pain about ur dad

man, my parents do that WAY too much. it sucks and i just start screaming at them for comparing me. talk to them, i know its a really hard thing but still, talk to them

Yes the do. If you talk to them and let them know how you fill, they will stop it. if they really love you.
