Here is some idea: a woman who always whines to everyone saying she's lacking confidence because of her low self esteem. However, she always dresses in a manner that shows off her body instead of hiding it. Claims she's despressed but goes out to party and vacation... willingly. I have a feeling she's more of attention seeking rather than suffering low self esteem.

I think those two issues are interconnected. She's trying to seek attention by showing off her body. But truthfully, she's feeling insecure about herself and she wants the attention to feel better about herself. If she was really feeling good, secure and more accepting of herself, then there wouldn't be any reason for her to seek attention from other people.

First of all, her clothes don't suggest much. She may be flaunting it because she feels that's the only way she gets any attention- which would indicate low self-esteem. Ditto on the partying- you can still feel very depressed and lonely even at a crowded party. Though usually people with low-self esteem don't necessarily go around declaring such; if they truly have low self-esteem, they're likely to think no one cares and not say anything. It's possible she's seeking attention, but that could just be another sign of her self-esteem issues, rather than being in spite of it.

I would agree that low self-esteem is self-recognizable. Up until I was 17, I had extreme low self-esteem. I was obsessed about what everyone thought of me, whether I was doing things right, whether or not I would be accepted. But, she is acting like that for attention. She wants people to feel sorry for her.

Attention seeking & low self esteem can go together- she's desperate for somebody else's approval to boost her self-esteem a bit (it doesn't work very well, obviously, the only one who can really improve your self-esteem is you...)
