I tried a beer the other day called Kasteel that was an import from Belgium. It had 11% Alcohol, thinking that it would taste bad, it tasted great! I am wondering what are some other good STRONG beers out there I could try?

Most mainstream American beers have about or almost the same % of alcohol as mainstream beers of Canada, Germany and other countries, but are made to taste lighter and more flabby. American Budweiser is - believe it or not! - is 5%.

Several states of the USA do not allow beers of more than 6 or 6.5%. I take it you do not live in any of them. Therefore, the best
suggestion I can make is to check out specialty beers made at
micro-breweries in your area. There are bound to be some making one or more brews of 6, 7, 8 % and more, including barley wines of 10-12%.

If you ever get a chance here are a few more Belgian beers you could try:

Chimay, Bush (a strong tasting belgian beer, 12%), Orval, Duvel, Rodenbach, Delirium Tremens....and the list could go on and on... most of these are around 9%

please note that beer is a speciality in Belgium and the only other places you could find similar types (if you are in the states)would be in microbreweries.

some are exported in small quantities, when I lived in Colorado I found some in Applejacks...happy hunting

You can go with a black and tan from yeungling dark beer nice taste. Golden Phesant from the balkan area is good. Steel Reserve is ok, depends on where your at in the country a lot of local brews are very good so check on them.

Belgian trappist ales are probably the strongest. German dunkels are also strong, but too sweet for my tast.

US beers tend to be lighter. Some European beers were actually made to be taken as a meal.

Try Natural Ice... not only is it strong but it's affordable. Probably weak on taste if you like European beers but it tastes like beer to me!!!!!
