No, you do not. High speed internet does not travel over phone lines, but cable lines. So if you house can be hooked up to Cox cable, it can be hooked up to high speed internet.

And you don't have to have cable TV in your house either.

Beware, though, as no matter what Cox says in their commercials about so-called "customer satisfaction," they are famous for lots of unscheduled down times, terrible customer service, and on-site technicians who don't know what they're doing. It's much faster than dial-up or DSL, but it comes at a cost.
