Happily it has not happened to me. I enjoy the fact that we as a whole planet are basically free to decide what our spiritual beliefs are. But it is very sad that there are those who feel their beliefs are the only ones with merit and it is their self appointed job to correct the world. The dictionary defines them as fanatics, and all they do is lower the credibility of their religion by shoving their thoughts down your throat.
My belief is simple. I feel if you wish to worship little green rocks, and if that is what makes your life complete...then so be it. Just keep your hands to yourself, no violence, be a good person, take care of your family and be courteous to others beliefs. In short, live a good life and if there is a heaven...there will be a spot for you.

First off, might I say that it is a shame that you have received such responses. You don't learn anything unless you ask questions. I don't even know what some of your questions were. I know that my belief is that God is almighty creator of the universe and that Jesus is son of God who is God and Savior to us all that chose to follow him. Having said that, if you are a non-believer, I would simply ask that you perhaps to a little study of your own and compare what the Bible says with science. If you really study, you will find that science is ever fast, beginning to prove that there is intelligent design and that things in the Bible once believed to be fairy tales and folklore, are being proved as fact.
Christians should not be attacking you though. The way to win someone over or to have them listen with an open mind is not to attack. I am very sure that Jesus, who is the entire basis for Christianity, would not have acted like that. You might ask those who respond in attack to consider how Jesus would have handled the same situation. Even as they killed him on the cross, he prayed to the Father to forgive them, they know not what they do.

Hi Amirah,
Free speech. This isn't a forum for people who don't want people to respond in their own way. Every once in a while someone writes a question that says, "such-and-such only" to answer, and most of us ignore it because it isn't an abuse to answer it. It's like walking into someone's house and saying, "No one can sit in this chair but me!" and then being shocked when others ignore it and sit in the chair.
This is an open forum, with certain rules. One of those is that we get, by the default structure of the system, to respond in our own way, as long as it doesn't break the Yahoo! Answers rules.
They can criticize you because they have free speech, just as you do. If you don't want criticism, start a blog with no possibility of response or with possible responses that you can edit before allowing them to be posted.
I'm glad you're here. You just have to recognize their rights as well, and learn to decide how you feel for yourself, rather than letting them decide and then following their lead.
They damn you to hell? O.K. Do you believe them? Change. If you don't, it's a non-issue. Their issue, not yours.
Good luck! Contact me if you need a shoulder before you jump back in and use your free speech yourself again.

it has to do with a persons ego. to help prove to themselves that what they blieve is true they must find others who are wrong. their answers are just for them not really to help you. unfortuantly thats how ego works. If they are enlightened then they would understand we are all gods children and there are no wrongs in others beliefs just differnt perspectives. like the five blind men who came up to the elephant each grasping a different part. one the tusk the other the tale the one the leg the other the side the other the trunk. they all described the elephant a diffent way but in truth it is still just an elephant. they were just looking at different parts. dont get discouraged by the advice of blind men.

Dear Amirah
Religion & Politics really have NO answers
"Believing" basically means "Not KNOWING"
Most Vertebraes "belief" that THEIR "BELIEF"
is the right one. Hallelujah !....
Dont u worry about Hell or Heaven ....
Some people "believe" there ARE such things.
Just enjoy the ride....
In Iraq 800 Sunni "believers" sent 800 Shia
"believers" straight to Heaven , in june . AND
Vice-Versa.
There are 4 things anyone can waste their
time on ; (if they so wish)
Religion , anger, hate , jealousy ...
I believe only in myself , but I am not sure
about that....

Ok, first of all as a Christian (this ? was probably only for Atheists to answer, but, oh well) I must say that no one will burn in hell forever. That's not what the Bible says. People shouldn't be mean to you about what you personally believe. I mean, they (like me) may not believe the same way that you might (or do) but that doesn't mean they should be mean to you about it. But oh well. I won't criticize. Smile! :)

We are instructed in the Bible to help others to understand the Word of God.
2Ti 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
HOWEVER, it is to be done in gentleness, compassion, patience and humility. Anything less is not Biblical and should not be.
Col 4:5 Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.
Col 4:6 Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.
There are many who become inflamed by their own passions and "let loose" without giving thought to one of Jesus' guiding principles, "Act Out Of Love Always".
I must admit that I have been guilty of that a time or two myself!

Praise God that He forgives!

religion is a touchy subject especially for the devout. quite a few christians believe that you must believe in Jesus or else, but that kind of attitude makes them turn into narrowminded hateful people. I dont like any sect or non denomination of christianity or relationship because most christians use it to hurt others. a religion based on hate is sick and thats what islam and christianity both are.

I get emails also from people telling me that whatever side I happen to have taken, I'm wrong. It is almost enough to make me want to change my preferences and disallow the email. The strange thing is that I believe and I get emails from other believers saying that I'm wrong anyway.
Go figure.

People tell me I'm going to hell all the time. It doesn't hurt me much because God knows I'm on the right path and I believe it.
