How do people with long/thick hair deal with hot/humid weather?!! I had my hair under control until summer hit. Here in Chicago we are reaching tempuratures and heat indexes that haven't been seen in 20 years. Because of this my hair is now out of control. My normal routine is leave-in conditioner, straightening gel, shine spray (which also helps protect against ceramic styling tools), blow dry, then straighten. That routine is no longer helping the fight against the frizz. My hair gets frizzy if I let it air dry no matter what time of year it is. Now, during the summer, I can't seem to keep the frizz at bay. What are some of your tips and tricks? I need to stick with the A/G shampoo and conditioner line and I have to be careful what hairsprays I use and/or how much I use. With that, I'm looking more for products to use after shampoo and conditioner.

Moisture causes hair to frizz. Humid weather will make it frizz. The best products can control and reduce frizz, but they won't prevent frizz. Kerastase by Loreal has an excellent line for controlling frizz. It's called Oleo Relax. It's expensive, but it works well. Also, there is a line called Phyto, and a product called Phyto Balm. It's all natural, and the more you use it, the better effects it has on frizz. It's very light too. I use it on all my clients.

Stay away from products that contain alcohol. Many gels and styling products contain the same and cause frizz. My hair is long too. I am from California and we get a lot of humidity here too, especially this year. Look for a product called "Enjoy" at the beauty supply stores. This product has the best leave in conditioner that I have ever tried. It keeps the frizz at bay and does wonders for my hair. Also, for shampoo and conditioner, look into Matrix products.

my hair is very thick and its down to my waist, so the only thing iv found that can keep down the frizz is this: wash your hair with just shampoo. when you get out, use that Aussie spray leave-in conditioner (also great for getting rid of tangles) and let it dry. dont dry your hair, if you do-for some reason mine seems to always frizz when i blow dry it. and ive been using this method for 2 yrs and its great. not one time does it frizz. and when it rains, my hair obeys! its awesome.

I am a hair professional and love Matrix's extreme styling cream. u use it b4 you blowdry. it is also humidity resistant.
if you need to blowdry only do it until damp then slick it back or with a side part into a pony and take some of the pony and wrap it around the band to hide it and put bobby pin in to hold it.
