Quote:
by definition, if they have "jewish faith" they are not christian.
There are jews who believe in jesus, mohamed, buddha, atheism, and more. Their "faith", however, isn't jewish.
I disagree wholeheartedly with this, and believe history supports me.
When Christianity was invented, when Jesus was running around, he, and anyone who believed him, claimed that he was the jewish messiah. That claim is a jewish claim, and must be judged by jewish standards.
Therefore, Christianity was, initially (and I will argue, still is) a Jewish sect. Christianity makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE outside of Judaism.
What we now call Christianity grew extremely quickly, and eventually its growth was almost completely gentile. Over time (a couple centuries), a few factors combined to cause christianity to 'forget' its jewish 'roots'.
1)Jews were persecuted more than even the christians in many periods of the empire
2)The pharasaic/rabbinic (switch happened during this time) authorities were rejecting THEM!
You see, as xianity and judaism went on, they began to DEFINE themselves in contrast to one another. This means that they said things like "A jew is one of jewish ancestry who obeys the Torah and is not a christian." (Christians began to do the same thing.) However, if you asked them to justify these claims, and today, if you ask a jew who believes this way to justify their claims that christians are not jews, they cannot offer ANY evidence. NOT ONE BIT OF EVIDENCE.
EVIDENCE.
EVIDENCE.
EVIDENCE.
They only have their assertion that "EVERYBODY KNOWS A JEW CANNOT BE A CHRISTIAN." "CHRISTIANS AREN'T JEWS!" etc. etc. etc.
But you know what? If I am correct, then the situation is exactly like this:
Every catholic in the world could begin to scream "Protestants are not christians! Protestants are not christians!" There is absolutely no basis for such a claim, of course, except their simple assertion. In fact, logic would dictate that catholics do not get to define what christianity is, but logic does. However, the catholics (in my imaginary story) could assert that protestants are not christians. Eventually, Protestantism and Catholicism could begin to be thought of as seperate religions, instead of two parts of the same religion that happen to answer a certain question differently.
A catholic can say a protestant is not a christian all they want, but it does not make it true. Every catholic on the planet can say that a protestant is not a christian, but it does not make it true. Logic plainly tells us, if anyone bothers to look, that both catholics and protestants are christians.
In the same way, if every 'jew' on the planet says "Christians are not jews!" it does not make it true. This is a question of logic, and logic does not bow to the volume of a group of people.
I encourage you to think through this logically:
1)Jesus was a Jew.
2)Jesus made a Jewish theological argument (I am the Messiah)
3)Jesus did not himself found a seperate religion (in fact, his early followers recorded in the Bible didn't either)
4)Early Christians, when telling others about Jesus, always went to Jewish people to do so (see the book of Acts, which explains that Paul always went to synagogues the first thing when he got to a new place.)
5)Early Jewish Christians were all faithful to the 'traditions of their fathers.' (Paul continued to sacrifice in the temple, returned to Jerusalem for the appropriate holy days, James was found in the temple all day long, etc.)
Logic says that Christianity IS Jewish.
So, there are about 2 Billion gentile converts to judaism on the planet today who believe Jesus is the messiah. They may be wrong, they may be heretics, but they are Jews. (in faith)
Further, many many jews are messianic Jews. This is not deceptive, as explained above.
Those who claim Messianic Jews are NOT jews are either liars, or deceived.

Jews for Jesus are those of the Jewish faith and heritage that have come to know Jesus as their Savior and The Messiah. They activively minister to Jews, according to Matthew 10:6-8 which says, "but rather, go to the lost sheep of Israel..."

Yes I worked with a guy and went to Church with the husband of a lady who were Jewish but believed Christ was the Messiah. I think telling them they aren't Jewish then is like telling a dove it's not a pigeon.

Jews acknowledge the existence of Jesus. They don't believe he is the messiah of prophecy. Jews for Jesus are people who say that they are Jews in belief, but that Jesus was in fact the prophesised messiah. Many other people call them Christians.

Yes...they're also referred to as Messianic Judaism. I knew one...Jews who believe that the Messiah, in the person of Jesus the Christ, has already come.

yes, this group exists, but they are not a real religion...
Judaism does not believe that the messiah has come yet, so a Jew who believes in Jesus Christ is no longer Jewish.

The Old Testament says that one day the Jews will have their eyes open to the Messiah. We are seeing this happen already.
Orthodox Jews hate this. And they will slander anyone who accepts Jesus as their Messiah.
But to answer your question..YES. And bring it on.

my own opinion is that j4jesus are bad people because their entire ministry is built around deception (making themselves look jewish. not biblical, but Jewish) to convert jews. simply wrong.
