Telling her she has an attitude problem is like telling a drunk he's a drunk. They have to figure it out on their own. If you just ignore her and act like she's not there when she starts to piss you off. Even walk away, she will probably get bored because she isn't getting your attention. Have you ever tried inviting her to do things with you with no strings attached? Maybe she is starving for attention, and isn't seeing how to really get it. The reality is this, if she doens't learn that being rude to other people isn't the way to get peoples attention other than pissing them off, or them leaving her, she will end up probably alone and bored. Understand that everyone goes through learning stages of their life (as I am sure you have too), and just withdraw from her. When she sees she is getting no where with you, she will either have an epiphany, or start bothering someone else. But don't forget, anger only begets anger. Hope she figures it out.

You were right to go to her w/ how you feel. She may be doing things to get attention. Maybe you both could find something to do together, an after school activity, she is at that age when her body has already began changing. Her body may be getting ready for her menstrual cycle if she hasn't already gotten it... her taste has changed from sesame street to hip hop, find out what her interests are, and tell her when she is ready you and her can talk. Sisters make the greatest friends, consider her a blessing I have 2 brothers.

First, calm down. Tell her your feelings about how she is acting. If that doesn't work, then just stay away from her. My sister is 28, and i'm 30, and we still don't really talk much, we didn't get along like you and your sister don't, and I wish we had that closeness, but she thinks of herself as high and mighty and can do no wrong, so I just call her once in awhile, and send her a card every now and then, but we only see each other on holidays. (I'm in Georgia and she is in Colorado) Best for both of us this way.

I had three sisters all at once behave like this. It was the most difficult time of my life. Believe it or not, when you're adults, you'll be friends, good friends (hopefully). In the meantime, put up with her attitude and give it back. Make her cry a little?

Did you try to be nice? If you did, why does she still have the attitude? Does she calm down at all, or is constantly like this? If so, have you exerted your powers of being older than a 12 yr old?

Stay cool. Her attitude is about getting attention. If you react to it, she gets what she wants. She wins. If you react to it, it will come back and bite you in the butt. The one who reacts is usually the one who gets in trouble. If the attitude is as bad as you say she will get in trouble all on her own with a parent, teacher, or some adult in authority. Just sit back watch, and wait.

Don't all preteens get major attitudes? Just ignore her. She just wants a rise out of you.

When she is doing thing that irritate you, she is wanting attention. If you prefer not to be bothered, just keep ingoring her.
Maybe you could spend a little quality time with her and she might just appreciate you a little more.

Are you younger/older than her? This HAPPENS...just ignore her, my sis and I fought ALL the time when we were younger. Now that we are older, we are totally different. It's all a part of growing up, hormones, etc.
