Because they don't believe or don't care about Deuteronomy 6:6-9: "And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates."

A child is born with a fontanelle, which means (using a weird metaphore now) that a child is literally born with an open mind.
I'm not religious, you know that. But i will teach my future children everything about different religions. I will tell them the bible-stories, the quran-stories, teach them about Allah, God, but i will also teach them about the alternative. That there is also a possibility there might not be a God.
I believe that no religion should be forced onto children, no matter what religion the parents are. Children should be encouraged to make their own decisions in life.
You converted to Catholisism at a later age. I don't know the reason, but it means you made that decision on an age you were able to that. Kids don't have that choice. I will encourage my kids into making their own decisions, and help and support them no matter what they choose. It will also help them respect other religions, other faiths and people without religion.
I strongly believe there shouldn't be religious schools or home-schooling with religious affiliation. Every child should learn the same, and every child should be taught to keep an open-mind to everything. In that way children can make a better choice later in life.
Now they hardly have that choice. Proof for that is the geographical position of the different religions. The USA is merely Christian, simply because it goes from parent to child. That's not a free choice.
I wouldn't call it indoctrination or brainwashing, but i do call it unfair.
As an example:
In Turkey about 99% of the population is Muslim. In Greece about 99% of the population is Christian. They are neighbour-countries, and both populations feel they are right. I think if children were raised with an open-mind towards different religions, the outcome of both populations would be very different.

Because you should never give your children false information. Do you research your information before you teach it. No, you don't.
The problem today is that every person out there with their ideas thinks they are right without checking to see if they are or not. To many false teachings for so long does not make a lie right.
For example,Our Creator took how long to create all ?
What did Jesus never say ?

I know that drug is bad for health, do I teach my children to stay away, or allow them to learn from the cold hard society?
I know that safety belt is good, for safety sake. Do I teach them to use them each time they drive or allow them to meet an accident to learn from themselves?
How about drink driving? How about riding bike without helmet?
Now. If I believe the Bible is the word of the Living God, and have the key to the power of life, will I not teach them in the way of the Lord?
However, when they are old, they can choose to disobey the Lord, if they want to; just as they can still do drinking alcohol, or drugs. They can still go against the law of the land.
But as long as they are under my care, it is my duty yo teach them to obey the law of the land, to pay tax, to respect the elder, to be soble when driving, to wear helmet when riding bike, to stay away from drugs, and to love the Lord God.
Is it wrong of me doing that within my own home?

The Bible tell us so to teach our children to study and learn the way of the Lord and His words as a Christian. This kind of people are just lost and they don't really have personal relation to God above!

usually, the ones who tell you not to be responsible in indoctrinating your kids are those from other religions. this is because they want the children to choose on their own regarding their religion. given this, they have a larger chance of having your children joining their circle. when you indoctrinate your children, they grow up with a positive bias with your religion.

I raised six children. Everyone of them knows the Lord, experienced salvation and helped lead me to Christ. I thank God everyday that someone, somewhere took the time and effort to explain it to them, and the miracle of it all, is my kids told me about salvation. I am sorry it worked out like that, but the Lord will get his message through, one way or the other. Praise God for all He has done for me.

You are responsible for teaching your children the morals and values that you believe in, but when they are old enough to make up their own minds you have to allow them to do that. Free will is the biggest gift God gave us, and we have to respect that, even for our children, remember, they don't belong to us, they came through us for their own development

Don't you dare stuff your religion down your children's throats. Let the innocent little tykes make up their own minds. Indoctrinate is a fecal word like brainwash.
