One word: CHI

Invest in a Chi flat iron if you can (on ebay, they run about $85; you can also get one at a local beauty supply store without the shipping costs)

It works better than anything else. And for about $20, you can get a full sized bottle of Biosilk (GREAT PRODUCT). Put this on your damp hair before blowdrying, and then straighten out with your CHI...you'll be amazed.

If you don't want to fork up so much money, find a good CERAMIC flat iron. It's the best kind (same material CHI uses) and instead of Biosilk, try Oilsheen (an oil spray $4) or moisturemax ($3, oil cream). You want to protect your hair with somethign oil based before straightening it.

You might also need a trim. Sometimes split ends (if you have them) cause flippage.

Aw! Your question is so cute!

Do you use any hair products? You should try pomades. They work well AND they condition hair. It is what all the Hollywood types are using nowadays.

Go to the Garnier website. They have cute videos that show you how to style your hair. And their products are brilliant and smell great.

If you are not into styling products then get a ceramic straightening iron. They work wonders but take time if your hair is long. And I don't think they would work on really short hair.

depending on the length of your current cut, and how the layers are sitting might be why your hair is flipping. if you have alot of layers, and your hair sits on your shoulders it has no choice but to flip out. either let it grow passed your shoulders or get it cut just above the shoulder. this should help if getting cut above the shoulder, ask your stylist to undercut the length.
to prevent the flipping use a metal or ceramic round brush that is the right size for your length of hair. to determine this you would need to think about if the brush would get caught in your hair then it is too small. use products like Redken's smooth down line or Matrix's sleek line to smooth the hair.
