How many other things in your life annoy you and yet you don't spend time focusing on them? You can start by not wasting your time in R/S section. That would help you a little. It seems you go out of your way to confront religion. There isn't a church on every corner where I live nor do they teach religion in school here. Maybe you should move to an area that causes you less stress. Life is what we make it. If you focus on things that bring you drama then you will have a drama filled stressful angry life. Enjoy if that is your choice. Spread love and light up the world.

Well, your views are quite obvious. Some politicians are elected based upon their religious beliefs. Considering you see yourself as more "educated" atheist, you might want to remind yourself that the USA was founded by "religious people (and Christian at that!)." If you don't like that perhaps you should find a place where religion has NO role in government. There are a few communist countries left. Oh so that you know (because it seems that your information is inaccurate), they do NOT teach religion in public schools.

We shouldn't ignore religion, given the proclivity of some religions to persecute minorities.

For example, antebellum slavery was defended by Southern Christians. The Civil War was forced upon the North by Southern Christians defending slavery. Churches in the South were racially segregated by white Southern Christians...etc.

Today, too many Christians persecute homosexuals because homosexuals...gasp...love one another.

Ignoring religion is a sure-fire ticket to Theistic tyranny.

In which country do you live?

I live in France, and I don't see such an invading behaviour from Religions.

I suppose you live in the USA...

There are many nations on our planet in which religions are not too invading.

As a fact, billions of people need religion for making sense in their life. And billions of people don't need religion for making sense in their life.

- Consider that everyone is different and has more or less different beliefs from yours;

- religious temples are buildings;

- politician strategies: purpose = charming a maximum of people;

- religion is not taught in schools in every nation.

I only see humans.

Only by truly accept that religion it's one of the most stupid things that we have ever invented, to stop believing on fake gods that we also created. And start on believe in ourselves, believe only in our powerful human spirit, because we don't deserve to submit to any god-based religion. We are free!!

You cannot ignore religion. The zealots will not let you. Instead, adopt the belief that these religions are intended to improve people, and some people missed the message.

It should be more about ones' faith than their religion, if you have no faith then you are doomed. Faith in Him is what carries you there. I hope you find some faith in Him before it is too late. Good luck!!

Ignore all you want. It is here to stay unfortunately.

Believers are not necessarily stupid. Stupid people are everywhere.

ooops!....when you make judgements your ignorance shows.....
why would one want to elect and official to office who we knew had no moral code or conduct...and could be swayed in their beliefs to serve their own interests..and that is usually to line thier own pockets....it is a believers duty to vote and serve on a jury....as well as other civic duties....
