From Jesus' words himself he said we must be perfect because God is perfect - implying we must follow God's way. If jealousy is one of God's perfect traits then why it becomes a sin for us to practice jealousy?

Despite the Bible's portrayal of God as a vicious, vindictive, vile god, I doubt God is a jealous god anyway. I think it was just convenient for the temples to scare people into following their ways (and their coffers).

But, going with this assumption, I have a thought on God's jealousy and Jesus's way.

Most of the time, it is the parents' dream that their children surpass them in terms of success, goals, and dreams. Especially, you can find parents who never went to college trying hard to open the way for their children to enjoy college and have better jobs.

Jesus has surpassed God in terms of being a good person. God of the Old Testament is a wicked, petty god who is not worthy of worship. Jesus gives people hope by doing away with the pettiness and jealousy. And perhaps Jesus hopes that we mortals can surpass God. I would say that if you have no interest in ruining a man's life on a dare, then you have already surpassed God, but I think Jesus would like you to surpass even him.

The Old Testament pretty much shoots down the thought that God is perfect. That is mostly just rhetoric from people who don't want to admit that their god is not perfect at all. No perfect being would tempt Adam and Eve with the Tree of Knowledge and then be angry when they acted in their nature.

Because God is the only one who is totally perfect and is righteous enough to deal with human imperfection in the correct way. The way that God is jealous is that he is our creator and he made us, the world and everything in it. The Bible says that you should have no other Gods before him because he expects exclusive devotion. There are many examples of people worshiping other Gods but they did not answer; however the true God delivered his people out of Egypt and parted the Red Sea so that they could go across safely. No human can ever be perfect because of inherited sin passed along from Adam and Eve. That is why the one perfect man, (God's son), Jesus came as a ransom sacrifice for our sins. We can only take to heart the Bible's council and earnestly try our best to apply Bible principles in our life every day. The Bible tells us to seek its knowledge as if for silver or gold and that if we seek it we shall find it. In the mean time we can pray for God's help to do what is right and imitate his example as closely as we can.

God's jealousy is pure and without sin. Our jealousy, on the other hand, incorporates sin and corrupts jealousy into an un-Godly emotion. For example, God tells us it's ok to be angry, but we cannot permit our emotions to prompt us to sin (Psalm 4:4). If we separate unrighteousness from emotion, we become more like Him.

Think of it: when we are jealous, we feel a mixture of hatred, humiliation, rage, insufficiency, etc. Scripture tells us these are all sinful emotions. We tend not to feel the pure emotion of jealousy like God does.

You have misunderstood the meaning Jesus intended.
God's jealousy is of our respecting things around us in 'place of' giving him our sincere devotion and love. For example, you can't have two 'best' friends.
Our jealousy tends toward material things.
He being Davine has the right to be jealous of our wanting something else as a God before him.
We 'being created' do not have that right.

See, thats why I don't like the bible. God is always either pissed off at someone, or getting even with someone. Seems like a real uber being would be more uber and less emo.

sorry if I've offended you, but the God in the bible seems more like Satan to me, he seems to commit each of the deadly sins at one point, particularly wrath. I bet he's not even circumsized.

by that logic murder, rape (tendencies that humans have shown) also originate from God. (meaning he must have had the same urges)

So I disagree, I don't think God can get jealous, I think that's a human trait and God knows better than to think we are all going to be perfect.

God is jealous in the sense that a husband is. He wants absolute faithfulness from us. That is not a sin.

he never said that humans must be perfect. the only difrence from humans that Jesus had from humans was that he was WITHOUT sin, impling that humans have sin. but later he died on the cross to FORGIVE us our sin. even if you sin, you will be forgiven should you ask God for it to be.

When God meant that he is a jealous God it means that he is jealous for us. He truly deserves our respect and love, and is jealous that Satan takes a lot of people away from him. That's why he is jealous. Do you understand now?

Indeed. Grace unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ...

Obviously there are two Gods(Spirits), two "one God" scenarios to sort out, one God being on "high" in the "heavens", and another one God being "higher", in "heaven", which is "higher than the heavens". But one only, of the two one God scenarios, is "the only true God" of false/true Gods...

Which things are an "allegory"(Gal 4) and a "mystery"(Col 2), so allegoric mystery to solve, by "reason" out (using allegory clues) which is "the only wise God" of foolish/wise Gods, which is "the living God" of dead/living Gods, which is "that God" of this/that Gods, by try(test) the Spirits(Gods) since God is a Spirit, and by comparing spiritual with spiritual, one of two spirit-u-all things (law & grace) being "antichrist". So what is antichrist?

If "Christ" is "the end of the law", "our peace who hath abolished the law(enmity)", "the author of eternal salvation" (not temporal salvation followed by destroyed afterward), "Saviour of the world" (not some only), etc; then antichrist would be the opposite, and such would be the false God of false/true Gods. Not to mention "false Christs shall arise" making false Christ-ians.

Not to mention it's written "aforetime", for our "learning": Rom 15

So, it's kinda like a "spiritual" training course to navigate, by using the "sound mind" God hath given you, to reason out which of two Gods(Spirits), is the false one, of twain spiritual things we're told to "compare" (not believe every spirit), try(test): Law & Grace. And then take only one of twain spirits out for a global ride.

Law is good, but it's also evil.
Grace is good, but never evil.
Pst - discern(avoid) both good & evil.

Law is holy, but also corruptible.
Grace is holy, and incorruptible.
Pst - Christ is the end of the law

All the allegory clues are hidden,
but also revealed by seek & find.

Our Father, deliver us from "evil".
We are delivered from the "law".

"Whatsoever is not of faith is sin".
"The law is not of faith": Gal 3:11.

Endure unto the end, to be saved(only).
Ye are saved(only) by grace(only).

The "grace"(God) of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.
