It depends which country you are citizen from and if you plan to stay longer than 30 days.
Even with a visa, customs agents may request proof that you have sufficient funds and/or return ticket. Keep in mind that there is a 500 baht charge for departing the airports

The Citizens of most of the european and American countries does not need a visa to travel to Thailand if they are going for pleasure but the best way is to check with the Royal Thai Counslate of your city. Have a nice trip I 've been to Thailand 6 times and every time I enjoyed more than before. Nice friendly people and a paradise for shoppers. Don't forget to bargain

Nope, as long as you're there up to 30 days in one stay.

I have a Msian passport and there is no need for me to apply for a visa to go to Thailand. It's the same with most tourists from other countries, I guess, especially those from the ASEAN countries.

P/s: If you're taking a flight back from Thailand, however, do remember to pay an amount of 50 Thai Baht for the airport tax.

if you are an american or european, you dont need to get a visa for a hoilday in thailand, except when you intend to stay more than 3 months. There is so much to see in Thailand, my partner and I had recently visited Thailand, particularly bangkok, but there is much much more to see in other parts Thailand. It is a great vacation place. Happy holidays!

Most Western countries are given a thirty day visa at the airport on arrival. It is free. It is easily renewable by leaving the country at one of the many border crossings and then re-entering moments later for another free 30 day visa... US, Brit, etc.. - but since you don't state your country, you should either re-ask or check if I did not get it right as to your country..

It is wonderful here - enjoy your trip..

If you are staying for more than 30 days, then yes. Look up the Royal Thai consulate online for details.
(The answer below is incorrect, it is 30 days, not 3 months. I go to Thailand every winter, so I know).
