Dalet is used to represent the name of God when discussing secular matters. this is done since you are not allowed to use Gods name in vein. Usually it will look like this example: D' (note the little ' at the end).

Another meaning will be the representation of the number 4, since it is the fourth letter of the alefbeit. In some uses (eincient) there is the use such as "Dalet amot" to represent four feet in legnth.

In childrens books, it usually have "Dalet is for Delet" meaning Dalet is for door (like U is for umbrella)

The deepest thing I can thing of is the word "door" which this letter represent (door in Hebrew is "delet", and it is written the same way like "dalet"). In the old Hebrew script, this letter symbolized door because of the shape it had.

This is the fourth letter in the Hebrew alphabet and it represent the number 4.
The root D.W.D (ד.ו.ד) expresses love and affection ("Lecha dodi": "go, my beloved"; "ani le'dodi ve'dodi li haro'eh bashoshanim": "I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine, that feedeth among the lilies"). This is also the root of the name David.

The letter dalet is highly symbolic in and of itself; most think of a door when contemplating this letter.

Go here for some interesting commentary on the letter dalet: http://www.hebrew4christians.com/Grammar/Unit_One/Aleph-Bet/Dalet/dalet.html

May God bless your project!

I can look it up when I get home and tell you tomorrow. Ask a Jewish person. They would know.
