Modafinil is in the BNF which is the book GP's use in the UK so yes it is available on prescription.

The BNF book is the one that doctors in the UK use they can only prescribe what is listed in it.

You can get it prescribed if you have narcolepsy. It has side effects, such as possible liver damage. Obviously you need to be under the care of a doctor to take it.
