I had it a couple of years ago and ever since I get a sort of momentary feeling like my brain has not kept up with my eye movements and I think it is coming back but it doesn't. I was told that it was viral by the doc. Since then, I have been scared to lie down fully at night and so sleep with my pillows well propped up.Anyone have any tips about this or ways that I can build confidence about it? Thanks

This sounds to me like something is not quite right with the fluid in your middle ear. The fluid may require drainage, or some kind of monitoring. The fluid in the middle ear can upset your balance if there is an infection of some sort. If there is an infection, or any sort of underlying problem with this you can experience anything from dizzyness to extreme nausea. - This can follow into your sleep and can really make you feel awful. Mention this to your doctor at your next visit - there could be something wrong with your middle ear ie. Middle Ear Infection.

I've only gotten vertigo caused by previous prescribed medications that I was on. I just had to ride through it until I next saw my doctor and described the symptoms, in which most cases I was switched to a med w/ the same intent but w/o the same side effect. But, no, I've never had vertigo having nothing to do w/ medication.

I had problems a couple years ago. I actually passed out at work from being dizzy and sometimes still have a feeling that things are moving around me when they are not. It's scary and hard to get over it and it's scary to think that it's coming back but what I try to do is not think of it. When I think of it, it makes things worse for me so just try not to think of it so much.

Have your doctor check you for hyperinsulinemia and a systemic yeast (Candida) infestation. I understand from what I have read that one of the effects of hyperinsulinemia - hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) can cause vertigo. My sister is hypoglycemic, and she has had a bout of it.

I also understand that a yeast syndrome may play a part in it, as it can encourage the development of hyperinsulemia. For basic information on the systemic yeast syndrome, check out the link on the Welcome page of www.hufa.org.

If this is happening when you stand up or stretch it is most likely caused by a drop in your blood pressure, and is called orthostatic hypotension.

Basically you stand up your blood pressure drops and you get dizzy.

But always see your Doc and get it checked...
