Water does not replace food, but it's an excellent way to curtail your appetite. Whenever you feel hungry, always drink 8 ounces of plain water first. Wait 20 minutes. Still hungry? Okay, 8 more ounces of plain water. Wait 20 minutes. Still hungry? Okay, time to eat.

I don't know about replacing all of your food intake with water, but drinking water before or with your meals is a healthy habit. Penn State research has shown that it won't satisfy your hunger or help you eat less to control your weight.

I'm not sure where the idea that drinking water before or during a meal can stave off hunger originated but it was very popular in the 60s, and is still a common belief. Research shows that, although drinking water with meals may not be an effective method for reducing calories, eating water-rich foods can lower calorie intake."

(pasta dishes with additional vegetables, smoothies, soup, fruits and vegetables -- can offer a way to cut back on calories and still feel full and satisfied)

The body processes hunger and thirst through different mechanisms. Clearly, if a beverage is processed by thirst, it will not reduce hunger.

Water is critical and many people, especially the elderly, don't drink enough, however, by following a water-rich food eating plan, you'll consume more water in the form of water-rich foods such as fruits, vegetables and soup. The additional water available from the foods is another positive health benefit provided by this eating plan. Identify you need to lose weight is good, but make sure you don't sacrifice your health to do it. I wish you good luck!

most definitely. Not only because it fills you up, but also because it will reduce the water in your system. When you are frequently dehydrated, your body assumes you live in an environment that is deficient in water. As a result, the body will retain more water in the system in preparation for long periods of thirst.

Drinking plenty of water consistently will "inform" your body that it does not need to retain so much water leading to weight loss.

But be careful, you do need to consume sufficient calories. If you do not, the body will assume you are living in an environment that is food deficient. Therefore, it will lower your metabolism rate. Not only will you stop losing weight, but when you consume the same amount of calories again later, you will not only regain your weight but also gain a little bit more (the yoyo effect).

The best way of losing weight is still the oldest way. Sensible diet, plenty of fluids, and a good dose of aerobic exercise. No shortcuts, because you'll pay for it later.

A much better and more healthy plan would be to spread your meals into 6-8 meals a day consuming small meals instead of large meals. Not only will this stop your cravings but mitigate insulin secretion thus keeping your blood sugar more stable. As soon as your blood sugar goes too high insulin will take whatever cannot be stored as glycogen and store it as fat in your adipose tissue.By eating smaller meals you decrease the likely hood that you'll spike your blood glucose and by splitting them up you can beat the cravings.Cut down on carbs and increase your protein and fiber intake. The fiber will absorb water and add to the sensation of satisfying your hunger. No one can tell you how many calories that you need in a day with the info you've provided.I'll give you a link to calculate your BMR

Water will only "fill you up" for about 10 minutes. Your stomach is not stupid, it knows the difference and water is emptied very fast. It is not satisfying and WILL NOT help you to lose weight, other than by replacing drinks that have more calories.
