ive taken my kitten to the vet for anti-biotics for her cold, ive only had her for 2 days and shes been on meds for 1 1/2. Shes still not acting any better, she wont eat or drink, though they gave me a calorie gel since she is small for her age. How long should i wait before taking her back if shes not getting better. i read this may not go away, should i worry??

Antibiotics can take 3-5 days to show effect. If you are getting to day 4 and there is no improvement, call the vet!!!!! Or if the symptoms suddenly get worse!!!!!

Meds take more than 2 days. Wait about 4 days and see if she is better. She also needs to EAT EAT EAT. Try warm canned cat food, warm tuna whatever. Cats with colds need nutrients in addition to meds. These viruses also take TIME to run their course and she may need different or more meds after you finish these.

3 to 4 days for the med. to take effect but you need to force fluids with a syringe or go to wal mart and buy a kitten bottle they are only .97cents. also kitten formula is great!!

Cats live thru their noses. If she can't smell her food she may not eat it. Try serving her something warmed up. To get her to drink, do not discard the water from the can of water-packed people tuna. Put it in a bowl and serve to cat. It''s sort of a tuna flavored Kool Aid for cats. Sounds disgusting to me and maybe you but we are not cats.

it can take a few days for the antibiotics to kick in, I would say after a week and she isn't better take her back for a recheck.
