Because I don't have one because I don't like being brainwashed and told what to think by someone who is basing there understanding of the universe on a 2,000 year old story book. Say no to jesus.

Perhaps a better question might have been why don't you trust some religious leaders. My pastor is a very loving, knowledgeable teacher and leader who has the best interest of our church in mind. I trust him completely(not blindly) to lead and teach me about my Lord Jesus Christ. There are some religious leaders who are not truly interested in the people that they lead. it is a blessing to be associated with one who is.

Because the act so perfect and pretend to know god. The truth is, they are just following their own ideas and promoting whatever makes them look good. Just because something is written in a book does not mean it is actually truthful, so how can you trust somebody who stands there and tells you what god wants when he is only going on ideas that come to him? Where is the PROOF that what the leader is saying is correct?

The Baha'i Faith has no clergy, because we strongly believe in Independent Investigation of Truth. We are wholly responsible for our own spiritual development, and we do not rely upon the words of clergy to teach us, but only on the words of God. Who is the better teacher, a human being or God? God of course. He is infallible and infinite, while human beings are fallible and finite.
Many people listen to their clergy and accept whatever they say as truth, without cracking open a holy book to learn for themselves. Sorry, but this is a very lazy method. We as Baha'is are called upon to . God us to seek, not just to be spoon-fed.
Clergy used to be necessary, because most of the world couldn't read. However, with education being more universal than ever, more and more people around the gobe can read, so clergy is no longer necessary. We should take the active role in our own spiritual cultivation. Not only that, we have the obligation - from the cradle to the grave - to gain knowledge. God gave us a brain, a mind, we are to use it. Ever notice that the mind is constantly thinking? That's the nature of the mind, it's function is to think. It does so automatically, this is what God has willed. We are to use it and educate ourselves, especially when it comes to religious and spiritual knowledge and wisdom.

They are human. All humans possess free will and are susceptible to sin. I do trust in the Pope, however, as the Catholic Church's leader because of the process of choosing a Pope involving the guidance of the Holy Spirit. I pray the He remains strong in His faith in God.

I do not have a "religious leader" but aren't they human??? Why don't you trust yours?? If it's because they make mistakes, don't we all??

Because I read and know scripture. I compare their actions and decisions to scripture. I seek council of those who I trust. When confronted these "Godly" leaders attack me rather than repent.

What they want isn't in my best interest.
They have their own agenda.
They want money without working for it.
They use god as a fund raising tool.
They often lie and some are child molesters.
Sometimes is an understatement.
