John 14:16
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

and why would Jesus call the holyspirit with another different name?

he felt like it?

He was just mentally ill and not the son of god?

didnt know what he was acctually talking about?

Said something that people of a different era, (such as this one)misinterpreted?

make up your own mind, its all about interpretation and what you think it was supposed to mean....just dont get it wrong or you might be judged for it.

The Greek word (remember the New testament was written in Greek) is "allos", it refers to another or a second of the same kind. Comforter is the word paraklētos, which means an aid, advocate, counseler, advisor or comforter.

Jesus, who was the aid, advocate, counseler and advisor - that is the comforter - to his disciples was assuring them that when He left they would not be left comfortless (see verse 18). Instead another One, the Holy Spirit, would come to take up the position He had held as their aid, advocate, counselor and advisor. So He is referring to the Spirit's position and work - his title - rather than his name. But just as we refer to Jesus as "Christ" (which is a title, not a name), so we can refer to the Spirit by the title "Comforter" and still be correctly identifiying him.

Jesus is known as the Prince of Peace, Lord of Lords - and Jesus himself was a comforter - BUT - the Holy Spirit (God being Spirit and holy) is a comforter as well. Jesus referenced the infilling of His and God's shared spirit.., in other words God himself, his essence, his spirit, inhabiting those who believe and are saved.

God's seal on his people is the Holy Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit one can be saved - but the Holy Spirit inside us leads us and guides us into all truth.., not all at once.., but we learn from God.

It was not a reference to another messiah after him, and even by perchance he did it would have been a Jewish man to keep in line with scriptures. Keep in mind, the scriptures did not at any point reference any other messiah but Jesus. In other words the buck stops with him.

Read it in context

John 14:18 I will not leave you as orphans ...

Jesus was on the way to death and after a short period to his heavenly place ... stands to reason his vacancy would cause great distress ...

Other versions have Counselor instead of Comforter ... someone who would remain with us forever according to the Word - the Spirit of Truth ... Calling the Holy Spirit that was merely referring to one of his many roles with us.

Jesus is God as is the Father and Holy Spirit. But they are distinct "personalities" of one God.
It is believed with Jesus on the earth, then the Holy Spirit was with Him. When He left, He sent the Holy Spirit to us.

the Greek is Allos.
It must be read "shall give you the comforter ALSO" in English.

it could also mean "one more" (i.e. one more manifestation of the Godhead other than the Father and Son)

Allos = another of the same kind. Jesus was referring to the next Manifestation of God to come to us, to be sent by God. The next in line was Muhammad, pbuh. He was a comforter, a paraclete, and a Messenger of God just as Jesus was, however in a different body/personality. Jesus and Mohammed (pbut) were MEN, not God, and their purpose was to bring people back to God. That's every Messenger's purpose, it's as simple as that.
